I think Lloyd has the right thought, there is not a perfect p!ace, so close to friends and family might just be the key. We moved 1200 miles from family and it is difficult. Would like to be closer, as is the case with most everything, compromise is key.
We looked for 2 years before our move. At the time it looked great. The unexpected changes in family have changed everything.
Travel, see many places and then think about what is really important. Just my $.02 worth from our experience.

We have been full timing for 4 years now and have gotten into somewhat of a routine. Stay in the warmth of the south for 6 months, then site see on the way north in the spring, pick a place for the summer and then site see on the way south in the early fall. Sometime in the next couple 3 years would like to go to the south west and stay the winter, probably in Yuma with Tim and Gordon, then the next winter head for south Texas. That way we will know for sure which place we like the best.

Hello,

My family is spread all over the US. Texas, NC, Louisiana, Colorado, Arizona, West Virginia, Florida. It is difficult to get together either because of work or people don't have the funds.

It's one of the reasons we bought the MH. This way we can go see people once I retire and spend some time with them instead of a few days because you have to get back to work. How long we will stay on the road I don't know.

We've talked about buying a piece of land in Kentucky or Tennessee and building a large garage with MH cover on the side and living there most of the year and then visiting. It would be more centrally located and not quite as cold as MI.

We'll see, the problem with plans is they often change.

Lynne

I always wanted two pieces of land with a large garage and cover for MH. One on a mountain in Colorado or New Mexico, for the summer. And one south and warm for the winter. Really the place at my sister's outside Gatesville is OK for winter. Freezes a few times a winter for a few days. Maybe snows a couple of inches every decade. So I only need a cool summer place. Anybody got a couple of acres on a mountain?

The beauty of having a plan (I suggest writing it down) is that you have a target to work to. Include milestones so you can see how you are doing as time progresses. The more detailed the plan the easier it is to compare. On regular intervals compare where you are to the plan.

If you are ON target then nothing is required and just keep going.

If you are NOT on target you have two choices.
1) change what you are doing so the plan is still achievable.
- or -
2) change the plan.

Either 1 or 2 are valid. I have found through personal experience and work experience the written plan seems to be the most motivating and makes the plan more achievable.

So much for my $0.02.

A popular RV saying is "Don't set a plan in stone , set it in Jello !
That way if something comes up you just have to stir the Jello "

Good Afternoon, Well it hasn't rained yet today and the temps got all the way up to 55*, so we've been putting things into the Paint/now storage booth, trying to get the shop so I can work into it again, it had become the storage unit and I was working in the paint booth almost there, need to put the one ole Harley away, move all the steel that's on the floor and spare engines ect somewhere and I'll be all set. Then service the wood furnace and get that ready.

Gordon is spot on with the planning and writing it down. Then with the 2 choices when you stray from the plan.

Terry, Sounds like you are just about ready to restart on the Tot'r.

We took a motorcycle ride today up A1A to peruse the damage from the recent hurricane. All I can say is wow. So much down foliage and the further north we got, so much home furnishings. Lots of roadway damage to where we had to detour off the main road and use back streets. I feel very blessed that we had as little damage as we did have. Didn't get as far as St Augustine to see how the city was fairing. We heard rumors of great damage. The beach is some cases was the same as the roadway. It is going to take lots of time and money to get all back in shape.

Terry, looking forward to the Tot'er sleeper/living quarters, up grade! Will be fun to watch!

Jim, I did some hurricane emergency response loads for FEMA, back when I was a O/O leased to Landstar! It was very sad to see all the destruction! Kind of eerie driving towards the storm, when everyone else is leaving!
Only did a couple of the quick in and out loads before the storm's, and most were after, taking in emergency supply's!

Rail!

Hi all!

JR, I've made that ride many times. For many years we attended Bike Week, stayed in St Augustine and rode daily back and forth to Daytona. The pictures I have seen are sad. It was such a pretty place.

We used to love to go to Martin's steakhouse in Flaggler? Know if it survived? They server awesome prime rib!

Back after Katrina, I organized a donation drive at my work. (11,000 people worked at the site. Employees donated many of the items the victims needed, suite cases, tooth paste, towels, etc.. All kinds of house hold items. We filled my 24' trailer almost to the ceiling with stuff. A buddy and I then drove it down there, arriving 2 days after the second storm. All I can say is wow, what a mess!!! Could not imagine loosing everything you own, and everybody you know is in the same place as you. Hurricanes are scary!

Terry, thought I saw the Tot'er in the barn with the toy hauler. Are you going to bring it back out to work on it?

L.

Hi Lloyd, The Tot'r didn't stay in the barn, just long enough to drop the TH and scoot.
