Still smiling

Had a very productive visit with my urologist today. Started off reminding him that i am a Licensed Practical Nurse. He feels my false urine tests are due to contamination. I have absolutely no symptoms of an infection. My primary said they have been getting lots of test back with organisms from this hospital. He sent two specimens to quest lab and will see me again in two weeks. I feel very confident I will get to surgery April 10th. It's late and I'm still smiling. Today was so beautiful with solar heat coming through the truck windshield. It was a tease of days to come.

MK,

That picture is just scary! It worries me that people are really that stupid. Your own safety and the safety of others on the road. Destroying your equipment, what about that cost. I think you insurance co would have a fit with this and U-Haul probably wouldn't pay for it either. Sheesh! Do these people think about that?

How's the weather Terry?

Ron White. " You can't fix stupid"

Momma Gump "Stupid is as stupid does Forrest"

Good Afternoon, Just back from my 3 month RA Drs checkup, all okay so far. Sam, good luck on the inspection, keep my fingers crossed you have good results on your tests. Lynne, right now the weather is horrible, low 20's 40 to 50 MPH winds and snow squalls, "supposed" to be over tomorrow then by Friday rain and 40's for the next 4 or 5 days.

Good Morning, Popeye, I try to NOT let them examine my head, way too much unexplained stuff in there. Now the weather people are saying that we could get a wintry mix, eck

To get back to something other than the damn weather.................

I've been reading on a different forum about some people that are starting to use an electric vehicle and inverter instead of a generator. Initially for house back up power systems . But some are powering their whole house full time in off grid areas.

Now some are discussing using a Prius for a toad and generator combination .
The rated output is around 8kwh per gallon of gas , more efficient than most traditional genny's at 4-6kwh/gal.

Verrrrrrrrry Interestink !

I'll copy/paste some of it here..........

Most" people recommend a 1-1.5k watt PSW inverter with the Prius. Bearing that in mind I found this kind of interesting:
How much fuel does the Plug-Out use?
Fuel use is directly dependant on average power use. Results are similar for any of the Plug-Out products, obviously some models can handle higher top loads than others, but all are similar at loads below their rating. The following data are for average power use. Your results may vary some.
Load: 400w Engine Duty Cycle: 15% Fuel Use: .1gal/hr Tank [9.9gal] Time: 100hrs
Load: 1000w 18% .122g/h 81hrs
Load: 2000w 35% .245g/h 40hrs
Load: 3000w 48% .4g/h 25hrs
Note: If all car systems are off [except ignition] the Prius systems uses about 200-400w, and the inverter has about 10% loss.

The Plug-Out Island and Prius combination operate at about 8kwh per gallon almost regardless of power use level. Most Mechanical generators operate at about 4 up to 6kwh per gallon. And depending on your cost of gasoline [assume $4/gal] Plug-Out Priuses generate electricity at about 50cents/kwh. This very high level of fuel efficiency is just one of many reasons the Plug-Out Prius stands above store bought generators.
Actually better gal/watt than a portable Honda generator.

Fun getting the HiLo out for inspection

We froze some of our anatomy off getting the HiLo ready for travel. Took the cover and wheel covers off. Then ripped the buble wrap with wide painters tape off. Painters tape work worked well with no residual damage. Then we had a heck of a time hitching up until DH realized he forgot to crank the stabilizers up. My nerve pain in my right hand started to hurt even with thinsulate gloves on. Today was very pleasant at 40* with some solar heat from the windshield. It was a simple inspection with no work needed. We always go out to chinese buffet when we visit our RV dealer. Glad to hear your check up went well. Like you said the next few days are going to be rainy. This should melt all our snow.

Popeye, this is all good if you already have a Prius, but to go out and buy one instead of a generator, you would never recoup your cost? Maybe in 25 years? JMHO! Rail!

Sam-3,
Hope that your tests come back good, so you can get on with the surgery. Its scary that the hospital is contaminating samples, that can cause all kinds of problems and mistreatment's for the patients.
Terry,
Glad that your checkup went good.
Popeye,
Thanks for the info, a good alternative for those having a Prius.
Frank

This could make me lean towards a hybrid if we were looking for a new toad and if one of the considerations was a hybrid would tip the scales.
