Hello,

Congratulations on the new coach. You are going to get lost in that thing. Something tells me that you plan to spend quite a bit of time traveling and living in your new home.

Make sure it is going to fit in your site for M&G. Know the sites in the CG are a bit smaller.

Nice find. Lynne

Thanks all! Lynne, we had a pull thru that would fit coach and trailer so should be okay, was planning on parking the trailer in the over flow lot too.we are getting everything ready (hopefully) for when Eleanor retires, that's why when Eleanor found this rig she said we had to go look!

Congrats Terry & Eleanor, great coach!
Stan, that Monaco is super sweet! I think that MH of Texas presents their rigs very well. Everything is very clean. I love the interior too.

Terry,

Do you have things you plan to change or fix in the new rig or is she good to go?

Will there be another not so total rebuild?

Terry, any idea what the tow rating is for the new coach? I see a trailer in your future that will haul the Harley's and the Jeep. Maybe a side loader for the bikes?

I'm pretty sure CLACer Lloyd isn't going to be disappointed by the things CLACer Terry has planned.

Good Morning, Lynne, I need to repair a couple of things, but we plan on leaving it alone for now, (too many things to do!) It's pretty much ready to go as is, 70,000 miles really good shape. Lloyd, it's a 10,000 lb rating, yup we will be down your way to pick up the trailer from Georgia later. Popeye, I might have to camp at Lloyds to prep the Jeep! I've been out of the Jeep scene for over 20 years!

Speaking of enclosed trailers...

Anyone ever hear of "tire doors" on a trailer? I ran across a discussion of having a "tire door" at each of the 4 corners of the car being carried. This supposedly would make it easier to tie down the car without being a contortionist.

Used with a winch, one could possibly eliminate the need for an "escape door" on the side. Simply line up the car, hook up the winch, pull it in, then access the 4 tie-downs via the 4 "tire doors."

It sounds like it could even be an after-market DIY project (for some DIY'ers, of course).

What kind of trailer (size) are you planning on getting? We are so happy for you and Eleanor to get something that you can winter in, and enjoy both your retirements. Not you couldn't do it in Ole girl.

CWK, never heard of that, or seen one. But I do my Jeep/trailer yoga everytime I tie the thing down. Try my darndest to keep the floor clean, but end up crawling and laying on it to tie her down everytime. A real disadvantage to a enclosed trailer.

Come on down Terry. Your welcome to stay in site 1!!! Can't beat the rates! LOL

Our Trailer is a Horton Hauler. They will build to whatever demensions you want. I went with, torsion axles, 22' box, with a V nose, and a 8' ceiling. Of course ramp door and side entry door. I pained the floor with garage floor epoxy paint, makes it pretty easy to keep clean and is very durable.

Our trailer is OK. Could have got the escape door to get out but did not. Have been able to squeeze out of the door and occasionally out the window.

Tie down is not too difficult. We have the open spoke wheels and the tie downs consist of a strap with padding on it. Pass it through the spokes and then ratchet strap to the e-track. The tie down track makes it really easy. Also equipped with 5,000 lb ring hooks in the floor.

Tire doors would be interesting. Too many extra holes in the outside wall to be comfortable with IMO. Location of said doors could be problematic depending upon location of car to balance trailer and any difference if you bought a different car. Weight balance is fairly important. Don't want to exceed the vertical capacity of the hitch so car location is important.

Found out through research that an equalizer hitch does not let you exceed the capacity of the hitch so moving the car can be helpful.
