It's time for another edition of.....
"Weirdo Laws"

Bad news for my Texan friends , clean out your toolboxes !
In Texas , it's against the law for anyone to have a pair of pliers in his or her possession !!!

"Found this on the Internet, so it must be true!"

Anyway, here is a cut-and-paste from someone's post someplace on the internet back in 2007. I take no credit and cannot vouch for any validity.

The quote is referring to someone else's guess that "pliers" in Texas was from an old law possibly prohibiting someone from carrying pliers (or wire cutters) on their person unless they were on their own land. Evidently cattle theft, grazing rights, and water access were major issues of the era.

Quote:
Unlikely the actual term used was "pliers" but probably more generic
description that may have included "wire cutter" or something similar.

Someone else noted the purpose was against cattle-rustling and equated
it to being similar to modern prohibitions against "burglary tools".
While part of the problem, more commonly the actual problem was one of
cutting fences for either access to water or moving cattle across
historically open range in the days of the "range wars" when free range
was being replaced by fenced ranges and farming. There was a lot that
was simply done to destroy the fences in an effort to drive farm
homesteaders and settlers from grazing areas.
Of course, someone else had a more modern take on the issue:

Quote:
This was the start of the wars between the free range chickens and the
gas range chickens.

Or the wars between the free range eggs and the electric skillet eggs.
I can never remember if the chicken or egg wars came first.

We now return you from this "Truth is Stranger than Fiction" interruption to your normally non-scheduled deliberations.

Phhhheeeewwwwwww ,
Ranger's were probably closing in when Terry mentioned that permit Ron !
That was a close one .....

I suppose us non-texicans will have to get a transport permit or sumpin' so we can drive through Lloyd !
I travel with 4 vice grips ,1 std size and 2 small , plus another small one in needle nose , 6 dikes in 3 sizes including the end nippers , 5 channellocks in 4 sizes , a set of lineman's and of course the classic slip jointer.
Then there's 1 sort-of pliers made for removing screws that the head broke off or stripped and a leather punch that might or might not qualify but why take chances....plus , oh no ! I forgot my electronics kit.
I never got the fencing version !
But have left my prints on a pair or 2...

Can I get a ruling on this ????

"Toolboxes are like a box of chocolates , you never know what you're gonna get.
And that's all I have to say about that."

15* @ 4am but surging up to 16 by 6:30 ! Some kind of storm sneakin' up on my back porch.
The guessers can't seem to make up their minds if it'll be "warm" or cold stuff falling.
Of course , I'm rooting for warm , ,,,,,,,shoveling not required.....

Keep your stick on the ice !
(ooooo , no ! .....Keep your line in the water !)

Popeye you forgot your Leatherman!![emoji41]
Top of the day to everyone! Yup still in TN, going to be lovely today (the weather, not me....I'm just pleasant). Going to rake leaves and contemplate things, and hopefully not complicate things.
Have a richly blessed day all!
