Travel/Park Radio issue....

Replaced the original in dash radio with a new CD unit. When parked and playing the radio or hooked up Ipod, the chassis battery will drain. It is my understanding by switching the travel/park switch to "park", the unit will utilize the house batteries. At someone's suggestion I replaced the 12 volt selonoid unit in the control panel but this did not fix the problem.

Wondering if the travel/park switch itself is bad and where a replacement can be found. Our previous Fleetwood with the travel/park switch worked as designed. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

When you installed the new radio, did you wire it through the 'travel/park' switch? On my RV the (+) lead from the radio goes to a dashboard switch that switches the (+) power from the chassis to house batteries. Mine has no connection to a solenoid, it's just getting power from either battery group.

Mine doesn't have a 'travel/park' switch, but I need to add one!

Why is it not OK to run it to the house batteries all the time? I have said switch but leave it on the house batteries 90% of the time. I turn it off when not needed.

When on the chassis power, it's controlled by the ignition, so it shuts off with the key.

Any Single Pole, Double Through (SDDT) will do the trick. Carling makes many of the type found on RV dashboards.

https://www.carlingtech.com/switches

You will have to wire from a fused Chassis (+) and a fused House (+) source, each connected to the outside posts of the switch. The center post of the switch is then wired to the radio (+). If you wish to have a lighted switch or one that has an icon for the radio, I believe Carling has them also.

Thanks for responses. I should also say that the light that is supposed to come on when it is in the "park" mode does not. Bulb looks good. And this radio was installed by the same folks who installed our other one and it worked as it's supposed to. Thanks.
