Update on the "Pig"

Haven't posted here in a while on the "Pig" project, so decided it's time. It sat all winter outside with a giant (Harbor Freight) blue tarp over it. Most of the body work I did last year held up well, but found a couple of minor areas of delamination of the filon from the wood. I think I'll just have to live with that, as I am sick of cutting out and patching areas of skin, and it is just an old motor home, not a concours antique car . My Wife says I will never finish it if I don't quit finding more flaws, and she's right. Anyway, I have fiberglassed all the seams on both sides of the Pig, except for the vertical one at the back where the rear shell connects to the body. I think I'll leave that one alone. I did bond the front shell onto the sides, and that worked very nicely. It sure makes this old Gulfstream look nicer to have one smooth skin from top to bottom. For the paint job I have backed away from the wild tribal flames I loved so much in favor of something a little more conservative. It will now have wide stripes running full length, crisscrossing up and down in different places. They will be different shades of blue, blue-green, grey, and possibly one other color to be decided later. I'll get some pictures after I finish the primer and post them so all can see. Right now it has the first coat of primer-filler applied, and will need to be sanded back down and re primered to fill all the little pock marks, sanding scratches, minor flaws, etc., then I will sand it down again and cover the entire body with a primer-sealer to prepair it for the final paint. Hoping to get the primer done this 3-day weekend.

follow-up on the "Pig"

Well, I lied on my last thread entry No mater how many different "artists concepts" I came up with for my paint job, I still kept falling back to my original plan, and just couldn't stand to do anything different. I'm going to try to post some before and after pic's here, but if the files are too large they may not post. If I have a problem I will have to try to figure out how to reduce them.Click image for larger version

Thank you JohnRR! When I posted my "artists concepts" about a year ago, I got everything from "Fantastic", to "I wouldn't want to be seen in the same RV park with that!" Even members of my extended family had mixed revues, but now almost all say they didn't think they'd like it, but now that they see it done, they really like it.

me too, it really hides the doors and such on the sides.
I like my colors but the basement doors don't match.
Great job,
Tim
