V.I.N.Location

Hello all! I am new to this awesome forum, and have a question that I am sure someone can answer. I have 27' 1983 Southwind motor home. It was imported into BC Canada from Sacramento California. I have it registered in BC but apparently in order to "plate" it, I have to take it in to the local ICBC office and they need to see 2? v.i.n.s. There is one on a sticker near the bottom of the steering column. Can someone PLEASE advise as to where another might be located? I am thinking maybe somewhere on the frame but have no idea where to start searching. I don't really look forward to crawling around underneath in the snow anymore than absolutely necessary. I can't wait for spring to arrive so I can get into the brand new world to me of R.V.ing! Thanks in advance for any info!!

Have you tried door jams or under the hood?

trugg..Welcome to iRV2 ! I think I remember seeing a number stamped on a plate right by the front door on our old Bounder- but I could be wrong.
Did you buy it from a Dealer? I would call them if you did. (They should know where to locate the other sticker. ) If that does not work - then I would contact a local RV dealer who carries the Fleetwood brand. The dealer should be able to tell you (or they can contact Fleetwood directly on your behalf) where you can find the other VIN plate.
Good Luck...I hope you are able to get out camping soon!!

Your local police auto theft unit will know the location of several vins on that vehicle, or be able to get it.. I can not tell you on RV'w where to find them.. Alas, I don't know.

I had the same problem with a Motor home I purchased in Idaho, Idaho uses the body number which was located on the left side of my entrance door, and the real vin number was on a non removable plate above the Left side of drivers seat. Caused me 3 months of problems with the two numbers since Nevada only uses the VIN NUMBER ABOVE THE DRIVERS SEAT. Had to take the vehicle to Elko Nevada so the DMV could verify the numbers used on my Nevada Title.

Cool V.I.N.

Thank you all for your responses! Sorry I could not get back here till today. The only vin I could find is on a sticker near the bottom of the steering column. I have phoned from here to California with still no luck. I KNOW GM stamped either full or partial vins on frame rails and engine blocks. I actually phoned the GM chassis manufacturer, but after about 20 minutes of "if you want this, press that". I was about ready to pull my hair out, so I gave up. If my Motor Vehicle Licencing/Insurance office wants 2 vins so badly, they can crawl around under the thing themselves. Our community is far to small to have an auto theft division. When I find out where another vin is, I will be sure and post it in case anyone else is experiencing this same nightmare. Thanks again!

Near the bottom of the windshield in front of the driver looking from the outside, bottom of steering column, left side of entry door as you open the door, FIN- on out side of coach by drivers door and on metal plate by entry door could be inside or out. Every rig we have had(3) from 81 model to our 94 has had the vin on the lower windshield steel plate

Have you checked your RV's web site for information on possible locations of VIN?
