vinyl siding warped and loose spots
so im diving head on into this hopefully mini project.
working on getting our 1988 itasca class c ready for the first trip.
however, the right side of the rv, there are almost bubble like bulges in the siding. mind you, its old, but still decent shape. its vinyl siding for sure, and when i hit the bubble spots, its solid underneath, except for one small spot by the fresh water fill.
anyway, what was this bonded to at one time, and can i reglue it back? should i reglue it, or should i just leave it alone?
i thought if theres foam on the other side, liquid nails makes a foam glue, i would think it may work. then take a couple pieces of plywood and strap them to the side of the rv for 24 hrs or so to press the high spots down.
seems like a lot of work, but beats taking it apart.
any other suggestions? should i just leave it alone?

Maybe I am misunderstanding but if it's solid underneath I don't think you can do much. Solid to me means it's already glued down tight. As far as not taking it apart; If the vinyl is loose from the substrate, aren't you going to have to remove it to get the glue in between? The plywood sounds like a good idea provided you can get the glue in there. Two or three jacks pressing up against should hold it in place until it dries. There has apparently been a water leak at some point in its life so make sure it's sealed up good around the roof.

thank you for the insight tinstar, im beginning to find there was some water leaks on that side of the rv. it doesn't appear to have damage the frame to much, but without completely tearing into it, i dont know. i basically just walked around the outside of the rv and hit it with the side of my fist looking to see soft spots or changes in the sound. i didnt find any except the one small spot by the water fill. then went inside on the same wall, and did the same, pulled on cabinets, etc.. there was a leak from the sunroof at one time. it was sealed up, but i managed to open a spot of it again recently. i did a temp patch to it for now until i can replace the sunroof with something better.
im guessing thats how the panels came loose from the foam. i removed the inside of the sunroof and found some rusted screws in a couple spots corroded to nothing, then found the one wet spot where i knew it leaked some. im letting it dry out, and not sure what else to do at this point. wasn't looking to tear that far into it.
i guess i was thinking i could remove the cap on the roof and squeeze the glue down in there before resealing the roof, but maybe i should just leave it alone.

Water intrusion caused the separation. Unless there is an issue at the edges of a panel it shouldn't be a problem to just leave it as is.

Now this is interesting. I have what appears to be a vertical "bulge" from near the roof of my 1993 Minnie Winnie to near the bottom. I suspect that there was once a leak by the refrigerator vent. I did not notice it at purchase; the light has to hit it just right.
Mine also appears solid beneath and, I would have to guess, it is also vinyl as opposed to fiberglass. I read horror stories about fiberglass delamination being the worst thing in the world. Now, the above suggests that I can just leave it, provided it is not separated at an edge (which I assume would allow moisture in). Because it's vinyl?
So, should I just not worrying about this unless I have a problem with the aesthetics?

it does appear that the leaks were old on mine, i dont like the way it looks, but function before form in my eyes. lol
i have many other things to tackle first. if i get the time, i'll check it out further.
