We have been using our motorhome as much as possible but it seems it is starting to get fussy. I tried lighting the water heater and it wont stay lit I have a full tank of propane and I can light it by opening the compartment and using a lighter. It fires up and after maybe two - five seconds it shuts off and I here something like a click from the thermostat. I can do this several times and the same thing happens. I have no leaks, does anyone know what might be wrong or what i can check.
Thanks

Hi, welcome to iRV2.com. You posted your note under the Vintage RV section aand might get better response if it was under one of the help sections.

Please supplyt the make and model of the water heater and I will link this post to better suited forum section, RV appliances.

Do you have a vintage RV? Vintage is considered over 20 years old. Let us know about it as well.

Check the electrical connections for the control board and ignitor. Also that there is no debris in the venturi going to the burner, even a small spider web can disturb the fuel/air pattern to cause a problem. You may even have to clean the tip of the ignitor; be carful not to break the porcelin around it. Let us know how you make out.

It sounds like if it will light but goes out after a short time. Could it be that the High Temp Limit Switch has gone bad and is shuting it down thinking it is over heating?

Check your thermo couple for carbon build up.
