Water Temp Gauge Sender

Hope I'm not flogging a dead horse here, I couldn't find any helpful threads on my problem.
I have a P30 based MH with the usual 454 and TH400. My dash has a full array of Teleflex gauges. All work fine except the water temp. I found the sending unit was replaced with a mechanical unit to the ugly gauge mounted to the side. I bought a sender for a '88 454 in a p30 truck and before installing tested it against my gauge using jumper wires, a pot of water on the stove and a kitchen thermometer. Gauge works, but ohm values of sender don't match.

Does anyone also have the Teleflex array and happen to know model # of needed sending unit? I included a pic of my gauge, in case someone has these gauges but didn't know the brand

It appears that Teleflex is now called Sea Star and is part of Dometic. You might try their Customer Support site for technical information. I'm guessing the various senders are required because different gauges have different temperature scales. A quick check for Teleflex gauges showed several different styles (a lot of marine use apparently) but none exactly like yours, but yours are probably just an older cosmetic design.

I found a site when I Googled Teleflex senders. It listed various sender types including temp (oil & water)) and interestingly had a list of 3 senders with a temp scale matching my gauge (140 - 320). The interesting part is they were all Stewart Warner senders, listed as a "match". The only senders on the entire list not Teleflex. Googled Stewart Warner senders and found one sender listed with that same temp scale. (#280EE-F)
I'll be trying to cross reference that number for something available from my local NAPA store and do another pot of water/thermometer test. If no cross reference then I'm ordering from Summit for $23 plus shipping.
I'll update as soon as I have news. Wish me luck.

Just to follow up on this thread. I received my sender today and did the thermometer/pot of water test. Spot on! The vehicle gauge tracked exactly what the thermometer was indicating.

So, if anyone has a water temperature gauge with readings from 140 to 320, this sender is the one you need. Stewart Warner #280EE-F
