Need help in selecting the best adhesive to use to attach new luan panels to the styrofoam walls in a Winnebago. I have been told that liquids nails can actually melt-dissolve the stryofoam. The new luan panels will be covered with a finished panel. If anyone have any experience with this issue would really appreciate any suggestions

I would recommend, and have used, GE 100% Silicone II

adhesive caulk for this application with perfect results.

I have seen a post on this forum ,I think they used spray in foam and when it expands they used a stick to spread it around to make it turn to liquid then pressed the luan panel. You will have to look for the post I can't remember which the post was. Good luck

DH used Heavy liquid nails to glue three layers of wall material together. It did not attack any of the layers. DH found it helpful to use a floor roller to press the wall layers together. HD liquid nails is the cheapest at Walmart. It has been many years since our extensive repairs and it has more than held up with no complications. Use generous amt. for each 4x8 sheet. One tube in an s pattern.Best of luck with your repairs.

Part of our repairs included styrofoam insulation panels. The Heavy Duty liquid nails did not deteriorate the panels in any way.

As a mechanical contractor Im sorry but must disagree with most here so far. Liquid nails, although not a bad product, has been far outstripped by newer adhesives that far exceed LN and other adhesives. I would use "Instagrab" by Loctite. Thats my preference as if there are any irregularities with the existing walls instagrab will help adhere better without the luan pulling away. It won't attack any foam substrate. I use the heavy duty, not the regular. At Lowes its around 4.50 a tube. Well worth it.

901ba Dicor adhesive. Same used to put down edpm roof. It goes on white. when it dries to proper tackiness it turns clear. Put it on both surfaces and let try. NOT like many other contact cements , it is water base, easy to use, and stays flexible. Flexible is what is needed on an RV. $20.00 qt rv suppliers.
