We had our 1986 Allegro Bay motorhome up for sell (to save money) after Christmas, several people looked at it... had a lowball offer...then we noticed a leak in the bunk area above the driver seat. It's an area that has leaked b4 we bought it but was never wet after a rain. We took the camper off craigslist, tarped up the camper waiting for a good weekend to fix the leak. In Ohio that took a long time!!!

DH took the ceiling and insulation down only to find out the leak has been there for a long time!! The plywood on top was just falling apart. DH had to replace part of the roof and drywall. So far we have had many storms with tons of rain and no leaks!! DH has done a damn good job!! We are supposed to get another 1-3" of rain today. If there's no sign of water we can put in new insulation and the ceiling!

After all that work we are keeping the ole girl! Didn't want to get rid of her anyway, just wanted to free up more cash.

Next project, replace carpet w allure flooring, replace kitchen formica and kitchen sink faucet with a taller one.

Great story. Glad you fixed the leak. Please post a picture. I love the older RV's.

Yes, the weather has not been too great in Ohio. It can do nothing but get better now.

Yep, I plan on posting pics! They are on DH's phone. There's nothing like seeing a motorhome with a sunroof! LOL

Here's pics of the water damage we found after removing the ceiling from inside and removing the metal roofing.

Here's a pic of the roof with the new roof all sealed up and a pic with the insulation installed.
We've had about 5"+ of rain with no leaks. So now we can put it all back together! Our first camping trip is booked for May 6, so it has to be put back together before that!
