What "breakdown" parts do you carry?

My coach has a Dodge chassis but I think the owner of any older RV would be familiar with my list. I carry various parts and supplies, most of which, I hope I never need. I know there's more but this is what I can think of at the moment...

Tools & Stuff:
- Tools of course
- Oil, tranny, anti-freeze and various other fluids
- various hose clamps
- Extra wire and connectors, electrical tape and a test light
- 30 ton bottle Jack and tire tools
- tire plug kit
- small but high quality portable compressor
- battery charger

New parts:
- Complete Distributor with cap & rotor
- Coil
- Ignition board
- Ignition resistor
- Ignition wires

Used parts:
- spark plugs
- fuel pump
- belts
- hoses
- headlight and various other bulbs
- thermostat (160 and 180)

I carry my toad, unhook and make a parts run. I carry my phone to call Coachnet. Your list looks good to me. Whatever you don't bring, that's what you need.

Basic tools for small basic jobs. A Credit Card and Good Sam/AAA towing for everything else.

Our coach is only 43 this year. I carry very few heavy spares because we just don't have room. I also have list of part numbers and even though we don't drag a dingy, I am pretty sure I can get a ride to a parts store. That pan requires that I have internet access to locate and confirm that parts are available. I have a little bit different problem than many because the chassis is vehicle specific and it is not in most parts books.

As an automotive professional for many years, let me suggest that you look up and store critical parts that may be difficult to locate. Start with what will leave you stuck. These things will vary by coach. The belts for older coaches can be hard to find. Be sure to carry a used one that you know fits. If you are going to carry a spare, put it on once and run it awhile to be sure it will not be an infant failure, then roll it up and stow it. If it has a serpentine belt, buy a new one by number.

For my coach, I carry a starter. The engine and transmission have been out of production for near forty years. Stores say that they can get one, but one time that took three days. You need to work your owners groups for this information.

Very little I could do on my own, hubby
keeps my motorhome as fixed as he can
for me.

This time home he is putting on new Safe
T Steer, the old is done for and fixing the
overflow in my water tank. We will winterize
too as I can't get away till January this year.

I think I need to get 2 new fuel filters to carry
even though they were just changed, windshield
wipers, are all new couple years back as are my tires,
brakes, and air bags all replaced last year plus
all filters and fluids serviced and replaced unless
there are some we don't know about. Even had
a new air canister and filter put on getting rid of the
original 24 year old K & N they no longer made.


I know we are odd but my husband indulges my
love of motorhoming even though he is still working.
He travels to other parts of the world for work so
really isn't much interested in traveling when he is
home. Hope he will be one day.


Oh also have a 2013 Cadillac SRX I tow, that is
my real emergency backup vehicle! And of course
a cellphone.

I carry mostly Tools, oil, fuses and a few assorted light bulbs. The other important things are a Debit Card or two and a towed car (If you drive a motor home)

If you need more than a fuse or light bulb,, you unhook the car, Drive it to the parts store, and present the debit card. Instant part.

It looks like you have the needed stuff pretty well covered. I would add a spare wiper blade just in case one goes bad, so you don't mark the windshield.
