i haven seen stats but i’ve read personal accounts by people who had the coach unexpectedly lower on them, with them narrowly escaping ... sometimes with injury, sometimes without and i’ve read newspaper articles posted in threads.

i debated the typical hardware options of bottle jack / jack stands / ramps and decided on these.

owing to a health issue, i decided to build the segments individually (so i could easily move them) and assemble them when needed into a single ramp using a removable metal strap (not shown in this image.)

also not shown is a 2’ x 2’ x 7” pad for the coach to rest on after climbing the ramp, allowing the ramp to be removed for work to be done in its immediate area.

perhaps overkill to some, it feels right to me :-)

I guess if you feel comfortable with working on a car or truck while only on a jack then levelers are basically the same.
Best practice includes jack stands or blocking or ramps.
Don't know the stats or odds but why gamble w your life???

It is very strongly recommended that you put jack stands under axels when ever under a vehicle and if you read owners manual it says do not use to work under vehicle whith out stands this is in your owners manual for your leveling jacks

Jacks

Absolutely use jacks, and jack stands!
Have heard too many stories (when I was a classic car parts salesman) where the wife would come home to find their husband dead because a jack or rusty jack stand failed.

I personally use both jacks and stands along with wood blocks. Makes it harder to work sometimes under the coach, our truck or cars. Figure the wife does not want to collect, on our life insurance just yet.

I have seen jacks fail. So I am somewhat leery about laying under a 40,000 vehicle held up by hydraulics or air. Is very easy to drive up on a ramp and I feel much more comfortable knowing the space above me is the minimum and will not decrease.

I must just be lucky. After my coach has gone to sleep and without the jacks, I can still sneak under it to work down there.

I have a rental house that needs the carpets cleaned tomorrow. It so happens that the rig is parked in the driveway next to that house. Guess what, the carpets in the motorhome gets done, just because!

Installed 30A as I felt that was plenty for temp use packing & getting ready.

I found a nice RV 30A box w recepticle and breaker built in at Home Depot online. Forget exact price but they beat my local elec supply house. Ship to store free.
Been thinking about doing the same in my shop. Saw a box w/30A RV outlet at Menards (a midwest h/w store chain like HD) for ~$29. I don't recall if it included a CB.

I liked the breaker Sw as it avoids plugging in wany loadsand associated arcing.

today we completed the ramps & platforms for each side drive wheels. looking at them, i’m going to see if i can’t use them for doing oil changes / light maintenance on our goldwing and cb750.

When I wired my shop, way back when, I added 3- 30 amp RV outlets, and one 50 amp outlet. One of the 30's plug in is inside the shop for my Coach. The breakers are built into the shops 200 amp panel.
(I added clean water line and a Grey water drain line for my Coach inside the shop. Just in case my guest house is full and I need another place for guest.)
Kinda nice to be able to accommodate my friends that are passing through.

I live 8 miles from the TMS NASCAR track.

I even put in a dump station next to the shop that ties to the shops bathroom plumbing.
And water hookups. One next to the house and the other beside the shop at the dump station.

It's nice to have extra RV hookups. But my yard is a litter bigger than many.

My Dad use to say, "It only cost a little more to go first class, it just means you just can't stay as long".

Are you listed with Boondocker s Welcome? It's a great website. I've used it and met great people. There are hosts all over. I'm in Tallahassee at one tonight.

Those are awesome. I bought the black plastic ones, which work, but scary getting up on them.
