Hi all! RV Newbies here
Bought a low mileage '93 Georgie boy pusher from Aunt and Uncle . . Our first RV
[Yeah we know just a land boat to throw loads of money at :-)]
It was low mileage cummins diesel pusher
but most everything seemed to be 'original’!
So it's taken a little more than just today . . like 3 months of serous free time
But to date we have
Pulled all old carpet, installed cork flooring on most of floor
Sheet vinyl in toilet pocket
New carpet in bedroom (little strips that is!) and on front raised driver and passenger seat dais' and the entry steps
All lights replaced or lenses replaced and all bulbs are now LED
New Mattress! All new bedding!
New wallpaper most walls (and frig door panels) Some new paint in bedroom
Removed all Formica countertop sink tops and nightstands installed 1/4 ivory Corina
Smart tile on the wall behind kitchen sink and stove
New bathroom sink and faucet, New kitchen faucet
New bath skylight
New 32 inch flatscreen TV bedroom, (included running some new electric)
22 inch flatscreen TV in front overhead console
(I can't believe this unit still had tube tv's and even had a VCR!)
Sewed new curtains for the bedroom and planned for the front windows
New electric entry step
New backup camera
Installed a turbo boost gauge
Installed transmission oil temp gauge
New Highflow arrow exhaust
New cold air intake
New - All fluids filters changed (lots and lots of fluids and filters!)
All new belts and a new idler pulley
New tires
New radiator fan added
New air horn
Serviced the gen set, new filter and oil.
New 17 foot awning bought maybe install on Monday . . .
. . I think we are just about ready for our maiden voyage!
Even though I'm thinking we're not done yet!

Finished repainting the entrance door

Started a few weeks ago stripping the decal from the door and surrounding area because it was badly cracked and looked bad. Got matching paint made at Napa and finally got the time to paint it.

Here are the before and after pictures. I think it came out really nice. Will be heading out Saturday for a 3 week trip and will lightly sand and clear coat when I get home.

Looking into some kind a sealer to keep them protected. Lynne

Got a link to that thread by chance???

could you please give me a lesson on how you attach thumbnails?
Adding photos here seems more difficult than anything we've done to our coach so far!

jlp3b,

When you go to the box to enter your text, at the bottom are two choices:

"Post Quick Reply" or "Go Advanced"

Go advanced, There is a paperclip at the top of the box. It's small so look for it. Click on it. It will load a box to the left of the page. You can upload your pictures there. Just look around and sometimes it takes a bit of time so be patient.

If you need more help just ask. Lynne

Rules of the page.

Pictures are required. Just kidding but we do love to see the pictures of the work you have done. We each have older rigs that we are lovingly restoring or fixing and seeing what others are doing helps us to decide what to do next to ours and how to do it.

New paint for the ole Southwind – 1999 Southwind 35S

Kodapop. The above link was what helped me the most. The prep is the most important as I found out. There were a few spots that I did not prep as well as I should have and there are areas I will need to redo. You have to be up close to see them but I know they are there.

I removed the wax I thought, but missed a few spots. It bubbled at these spots so make sure you do that vey thoroughly. I washed the decal areas, dried and then sanded them. I will do a better job of sanding too when I do the others and redo the first three.

Some areas I have had to completely remove the decals so will use the ghost stripes to repaint.

It isn't a fast job but it sure looks a heck of a lot better than it did. I am happy with the results and have learned how NOT to do it. I bought a plastic sheeting at Walmart that is a long wide strip. 8 feet in width. I hung that below the decals to keep the paint spray from getting to the side of the rig. Used paper above that. Because of doing this outside, I moved the rig to get the area I was painting out of the sun.

Just take your time and don't forget the before and after pictures. My passenger side is the worse and is where I will concentrate next. All depends on when I can get to it. Might not be until next summer.

jlp3b, sounds like you have done a lot of work but it will be worth it when you get to go out and camp. I Love Camping!

Monaco, do you have pictures, would love to see your work.

FlatSixV2, A new flat screen TV is a necessity when all you have is an old tube TV in your rig. We replaced ours a few years ago.

Looking forward to seeing those pictures in the future. Lynne

The slide in my 88 beaver never did work very well and the wood deck was bowed so I thought I would replace the wood. When I got it unloaded and took a closer look I found that the PO must have moved the mh with the tray out. The tubing that the wheels attach to was about 8” out of straight. I took it to the garage and started hammering on it but that was only denting the inside. I ended up cutting half the tube off and then straighten the tube and then weld the other piece back in. Replaced the wood deck and now it works like it should

I took out the wood trim by the passenger seat, sanded down the flaking finish, stained, and two coats of polyurethane satin finish, and it looks like new! Sorry I forgot the before pic's, but you could scratch the flaking finish off with your thumb nail! So it looked pretty bad! Much better now!Click image for larger version
