What's this relay for?
I have an 89 Coachman class A. On top of the motor, almost centered above the alternator is a solenoid. Can anyone tell me what this relay does?

Is this a gas or a diesel powered rig? The answer may depend on the answer of this Question.

I believe it is the emergency start solenoid.

It's gas. It has multiple wires in the load side if the solenoid, none of them big enough to be a starter wire.

Mine is right behind the alternator there is a mother to the left maybe 2 feet it is the battery boost il look and see more today

This solonoid was added by chevy to deliver full voltage to the starter circuit. Chevy was having a problem getting 12 volts to the starter solonoid, so they added this solonoid to keep from loosing voltage through the switch.

By "battery boost" I assume that you are referring to the relay that connects the coach and chassis batteries together? If so, that solenoid is located inside the coach battery compartment I only have one on top of the engine. When I get time tomorrow, I will try to chase down the small terminal wire to where it goes, maybe that will lend some hints. I really really wish that I had gotten a wiring diagram with this thing when I bought it. I've called coachman on a couple of different occasions and those guys have gone out of their way to assist me with this old home but they tell me that getting a wiring diagram from them isn't going to happen. They say "if" one exists, that it is buried deep in a filing cabinet somewhere. They have since gone to computer generated drawings, those are easy to get. It's an 89 coachman classic if anyone knows where one is that no longer needs its factory manuals.
