White Class A
Has anyone seen or heard of a White motorhome. I think it was built in the 60s, it belonged to my wifes uncle, who past away last year. We are thinking of restoring it and would like to find out, more about it. Thanks Doug

We'd love to see pictures of this. Sounds like a fun project. Somebody will remember this.

LOL. I got that. I wonder if the "White" truck company was associated with your motorhome in any way?
At one point in time they did build buss's.

Motorhome brand names come & go regularly and there have been 100+ over the years. It may be more helpful to identify the chassis & powertrain of the White and work from there. If you hope to retain any of the old appliances, identify those brands as well. Many oldtimers were built on a John Deere, Oshkosh, Dodge or Chevy chassis. Owners band together to share info and resources because those on the same chassis are often more alike than different, or at least share similar challenges in restoration and repair.
One of the larger vintage owner groups is for Dodge-Tramco motorhomes. There is a website, an active Facebook group, and a popular Yahoo Group for them.

Branson area has several Vintage Motor Home gatherings. All different brands will show up with the majority being the majors. It is really cool to drive by and see them restored and looking very sharp. Someone in the area is most likely a vintage MH expert but I do not know who that is.

I wonder the RV was made on a White chassis or "bus" and you are seeing that name but the RV was actually marketed by a different entity but the name has disappeared off the RV?

Doug,
White was a manufacturer of trucks and busses for many years. As they built good busses, I am sure that more than a few were made into or fit out as motorhomes. You may find a group online that can be help, and I would bet that someone at Tin Can Tourist will know something. But I will give you the advice that I give everybody that tries to "Restore" and old coach.
Work on the water leaks first, they can kill it fast.
Get it safe so it steers and stops. Collect the tire ages and deal with that.
Do the maintenance so it is reliable.
Now, find time to enjoy what it can do for you.
If things don't work, fix those. There are lots of used parts around.
Then, if you want to remodel the inside, plan it carefully. If you gut it and plan to start over, The coach will be sold as scrap in a couple of years.
This is the sad truth that we see very often.
Frank - Trying to trade one antique coach for another.

I agree that there was a White company that manufactured big trucks, but I never knew that they had built coaches. Hell, you might have stumbled on to a classic.
Good luck on restoring it.
