Wont idle when Hot

My 89 ford 460 has an interment idle problem. Seems when its hot if I turn it off and on a few times the fast idle doesn't seem to work. I have replaced the fast idle motor???? When I show it to a mechanic it works like a top!

I had a 89 f350 with a 351 W it did the same thing and I did the same thing too as you done never could find it, mine would idle fine sometimes for hours. Then would act up when you don't need it to like sitting at a light.

Check your EGR valve if you have one. And buy a new one from a Dealer not a parts house. I have a truck that has drove me crazy trying to figure this out on for several years. Finally got it the other day.

There is also a vaccum pot at the carburator that kicks in when you are using the A/C. If it is not working it would normally allow the engine to die at an idle when the compressor kicks in.
