This time of year birds are building nests and mating. When they see themselves in the reflection of a window they think it is another bird. Had a major issue with this in NE PA recently. Took some investigating to discover the cause of the issue.

The fix? Print a photo of an owl and tape it to the inside of the window. I did this and never heard another bird tap on the window.

Is this the front window? I had that happen. The bird would try to get the dead bugs off I cleared off the freeway.

I've got a lady cardinal that's been attacking windows, mirrors, gazing balls, basically anything reflective for the past 4+ years. Goes on nearly year 'round except for the extreme dead of winter (late Dec thru Jan). I've tried everything: cat picture, owl picture & fake plastic owl, hawk picture, shiny stuff, pie tins, covering mirrors with socks...etc. Nothing deters her. I wonder how long a cardinal lives? I'm hoping the neighborhood roaming cats get her eventually.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

Bap, I had a robin decide he was in love with my Freightliner's stainless visor and the side stainless extentions, he was fluttering around it all day long? I thought he's not hurting anything, let him go at it! But the second day I cleaned the bird poop off under where he was going at it, was enough! I would run him off, turn around, there he was again! The third day, the double barrel took care of the problem! Man did he make a mess under that stainless! Rail!
