Looks great! Is there a safety strap at the top in case something terrible happens and they come loose? Wish we could carry our kayaks like that! \ken

I made a couple of adjustments. moved the rack to the passenger side so I can see through the window and the camera. Strapped it to the ladder. Added cushion for the Yak's. Need to add a tail light to the passenger side. I stood on the rack before I put the kayaks on, it is strong. patent pending.

I love it!
I have been struggling to sort out how to deal with ours which is a two seat Ocean and length makes it a bit challenging...exactly 12ft...my designs have therefore had a bit of tilt in them and for now I am thinking a hitch mount with a few other items I could toss out back there...perhaps a bit larger grill...storage box perhaps
I think you really hit the nail on the head for that style of yak though...well done!

I don't thing there is anything wrong with mounting yours at an angle. Anything is better than on top. next project is a bicycle rack. I am thinking about replacing the rear bumper with a beefier piece of steel. I could then weld multiple receiver hitches to accommodate other toys and simply unplug them when not in use.

I think you are coming up with something there. Not sure how it would work with a bicycle rack on too as there might not be enough room for both.

Looks like I'm not the only one looking for some solutions.

Looks great! I've thought about building a similar one for WW kayaks...maybe somewhat convertible to a bike rack (wider tray on bottom)
