Hitchhiker - Announcement

Good morning IRV2.

For those of you that knew my Dad, (Hitchhiker to the IRV2 World) he lost his battle with cancer on 12/29/2012.

His years working with IRV2 and meeting the wonderful people of this group brought him a lot of happiness.

There have not been any arrangements made yet, but if you like, I will post the information here. I do know the services will be here in Buladean, NC.

Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes over the last few years. They were greatly appreciated by both my Dad as well as the family.

My condolences to your family on the loss of your father. I did not know him, or of his posts, but as we have learned in the past few years, the RV community is one large family and the loss of any of our "family" is a sad day.

My sincere condolences also. I always enjoyed reading his posts and getting together to go camping when we could. He is and will be sorely missed by everyone that ever met him. RIP Richard.

Richard joined iRV2 almost at its inception and became one of our guiding hands. He was the cool headed, fair minded administrator that helped shape iRV2 into what it is today, the most friendly and collegial RV forum.

Those of us that worked with Richard frequently looked to him for guidance on how to moderate, as he always had the correct answer.

I first met Richard in 2003 and stayed in touch during his illness to offer moral support.

We have lost a good man, a respected colleague and a good friend.

May God bless his soul and my condolences to his family.

Sandy and I offer our most sincere condolences. Richard was not only a fellow moderator from the early days of iRV2 but also a friend. We treasure the time we got to spend with Richard and Sylvia at a number of the iRV2 National Rallies.

Godspeed, Hitchhiker.....we'll miss you. Save us a good campsite.

I received word this morning of Richard's passing and so many thoughts and experiences came to mind. Whether it was rallies we were attending or perhaps a chat on the telephone, Richard was always the consummate gentleman and the voice of reason. His experience and leadership led this forum for many years.

My sincere condolences to Sylvia and the members of the Hale family in this time of loss.

In sympathy,

Bob Gregory

My sincere condolences to all of Richards family. He will be missed by the iRV2 community. I am sure he has a premium site at the RV campground in the sky.

There are just no words to describe the deep loss I feel as I write this post. Richard was a "hero" in my mind and I can just see him now rolling his eyes at me as I say those words...as he's done so many times over our years of camping together. He was....and always will be...my hero on iRV2.

To the few of us who were here during the very early days, we looked to Richard for his expert advice as we struggled to pave a path for this website making it the very best for rv'ers across the country. He was instrumental beyond imagination ....always caring and considerate, always looking forward, and always exercising wisdom while showing generosity, commaraderie and compassion mixed with a humble spirit in all his personal and professional dealings. He was a man among men.

To Richard, I will always remember your experience and your unfailing willingness to share them with me when I leaned on you for advice. I will always treasure the support you gave to me. I will forever cherish the many memories we shared at National Rallies...........especially of one night sitting under the trees in Boerne as we dreamed and planned for the next National Rally....and those beyond.

To the family, I send my thoughts and prayers to you during this time. His presence on this earth is no longer, but his footprint will always be present and his wisdom will echo through the threads of this website......ALWAYS.

You fought a good fight and the Lord above has said "well done, my good and faithful servant".
