Sharon Thomas

On Saturday, August 5, 2017, I lost my dear wife, soul mate, best friend, travel companion, ..., essentially my everything after her 9 month courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. During those months I have been consumed being her caregiver and doing everything possible to minimize her suffering. While the loss is enormous for myself, my kids, or families, and friends, I am relieved that she is now at peace.

We had been together for 47 years starting as high school sweethearts and have been married 42 years. Traveling was a major interest of ours and we bought our first (and current) motorhome three years ago. We used the MH on weekends and during the summers (DW was a teacher) but our focus was to do extensive traveling after her planned retirement in 2018. We were able to spend a little more than 250 nights on the road over the past 3 years and had hoped for many more over our coming years.

I'm now facing deciding whether I will be able to emotionally handle fulfilling our travel dreams, but as a solo instead. I'm planning a trip to test the waters in September and October. I plan to head to KY to spend time with our families that live there and then swing through one of our favorite places (honeymooned there), the Great Smoky Mountains. I have done a few solo trips prior to her passing so I know I can handle the rig myself. My real concern will be loneliness and not having her to share the excitement of our adventures together.

RIP "My Sharona"

Sorry for your loss!!
I lost my wife of 30 years after some 5 years battling liver cancer last August 21st.
Still trying to pick up the pieces. Made some solo trips with the seven cats but it's not the same.

What a lovely tribute to your wife. I pray that sharing your grief with us all lightens your burden. My family sends condolences to you and yours. May each day become easier to manage in spite of your loss. Peace, my friend.

Randy....... I too am so sorry for your loss.... Life is so very short. Having almost lost my wife this year to a DVT/Antiphospholipid Syndrome, I'm pretty certain I would just sell the MH and try and cope with not having someone whom means so much. God Speed.....
