I'm having trouble getting the toll free number so my family can call my Florida phone number TracFone. Would enjoy hearing your success. Phone works great from down here for local calls and for calls to Canada. Great signal strength and clarity. but dealing with those support people in Guyana has been trying. After two weeks of trying I can't get the "pin" number so my family at home can reach my phone without making a long distance call, the one feature that sold me on the TracFone.

We have an ATT pay as you go phone for use while we are in the US. We have no charge long distance to ATT customers in the US but we pay to call back to Canada. How does the Trac phone differ. We are in Kitchener.

We have one as well ....haven't bothered to do the toll free as our phone list folks only pay 4.9 per minute and mostly use free skype however it would save us (5 cents instead of 10 but we run out of time before $ anyway) . We did it with net 10 via internet a few yrs ago without a problem so that might be a solution.

FC Ontario....to answer your question, I was sold on the feature that our family members could call our Tracfone by using a tollfree number from the 519 area code and we could call them from the US by dialing an 800 number followed by their hard wired or cell number for the regular minute use cost. Only problem is that there are no tollfree numbers currently available from 519. So, I'm waiting. The Tracfone reps in Guyana will tell you to call back in 24 or 48 hours but they still don't come up with the number....just call back again later.
Just wondering if anyone one out there had such a number and how long it took to get it.

Can't help you out with 519 info but I have a 416 tracphone number. Don't seem to see them on the website any longer. If and when you get one, be aware that if it is not "used" after 30 days, they can/will take it back and reassign. I have been successful by calling it from my landline at home and leaving message and then picking it up. You will also find it is easier to get a Canadian number in the spring to fall seasons before the exodus to the south in the winter.

You can also program 10 frequently called numbers on the Tracphone web site and then taking the "1-888-xxx-xxxx" numbers it assigns to them and putting them in your contact list on the phone. It will save dialing the 800 LD number first.

Lots of features and the most cost effective answer for Canadians in the US but your observation on their support is dead right - it sucks.
