Well I am feeling very pleased with myself and wife right now. Our slide out awning broke while in Florida in March/05. It is a 2 stage awning covers the top of the slide and then unrolls to shade the windows. Repair man said he could not fix it and we would need a new one. So I brought it home, checked with the Itasca dealer in London and he said it was just a broken spring, not uncommon and he ordered the parts and installed the spring. Told us how to tighen the spring and to be careful with it. Tonight we did it and it worked perfect, the first time!! I am not mechanically adept so this is an achievement. We figure we may have saved about $1000 may be more. Being retired and having the time helps in doing things I never had time for before.

Congrats Novi : In a desposable, throw away society, its nice to know we can still repair some things ourselves. I know I have surprised myself at times as well. Now then....$1000 savings hmmmm! sounds like a nice night on the town

Yeah, now if I can just talk the wife into going to the casino, we could get rid of all this extra cash. LOL.
