Best southern Rockies route

Were going to travel from mid Vancouver Island south in April, and cross the US coming back up in Ontario.

My question is where is the best place to cross the Rockies? BC? South, way south? Gas is cheaper down south 🤷🏻*♂️

Stay out of Calif if you want to save some fuel costs........think the far south is a better route.....

In April I would probably aim for I-40 across northern New Mexico or further southnif I wanted to minimize the chance of hitting snow in the mountains. I-40 may get snow in April, but it would be unusual, and likely clear up within a day.

Flatest route across is I84 from Portland along the Columbia River. We use it all the time summer or winter. You can then stay on I 84 or head up I90 and over to I15.
