Leave your revolvers at home. Rifles aren't to much of a problem as long as they are not on the "restricted list". Be prepared by doing the paperwork before you hit the boarder.
I usually take Highway 16 to Vancouver passing through Jasper. Just a more relaxed drive from my view.
Banff is a great trip route but the narrow roads heavy traffic. The roads are good till The park the the bottle necks start. It is pretty scenic going from Banff up to Jasper but it does add miles to your trip.
Safe journeys

The yellow stuff in the open boxcars is probably sulphur shipped from the Alberta Oilsands.

OK great, that explains it!

Amazing picture of the Canola...looks like the Almond hull piles here in California when the are harvesting Almonds.

Thanks.

Ummmm, the closest Hwy 16 comes to Vancouver is nearly 300 miles, at Prince George

Hi Dean,

Hwy 1 from Winnipeg to Kamloops BC has many 4 lane sections, and going West from Calgary gets you into the mountains where there are some steep hills, up and down but easily done by experienced drivers. The major passes going West are the Kicking Horse and Rogers.

Hwy 5 from Kamloops to Hope BC, locally known as the Coquihalla (Coke-a-halla, or just the Coke) is a full freeway to Hope, where you rejoin Hwy 1 about 80 miles East of Vancouver.

A much more scenic route, but 1-2 hours longer from Kamloops, just stay on Hwy 1 to Cache Creek and go South through the Fraser Canyon to Hope.

I hope this helps, if you want any more info re this route just message me, DW and I know the Southertn BC area very well, living here for 50+ years.

Pete
