The national program
Canada Summer Jobs has changed the type of summer student job it pays for with federal funds. They now say their priority is to summer jobs that are those of
career choices.
Thus, entry level jobs, such as museum tour guide aren't getting supported. There is a lot of play here in Atlantic Canada media because some very well known places, such as the Miner's Museum have had as many as 6 jobs for the past several years. & I'd bet our National Parks have been partly staffed by students employed through these programs. These organizations say that they will remain closed.
What's getting the the attention out here in the media is the small museum, or the small business, with a lot of tourist traffic, but not that much that having a grant makes a big difference.
Please pardon me Novi, but it wouldn't surprise me if that organization that sponsored the period fair, where you and DW went in period outfits, isn't one of those organizations which has employed young people in their first job.
I think the issue fits here because we all travel and we all go to little tourist places only open in the summer.
