I must replace the two Interstate SRM-24 batteries in my motorhome. From what I have read on irv2 Trojan batteries are the preferred choice. I am considering two Trojan T105 6 VDC batteries. Has anyone used these units? If so where did you buy them and at what cost? I am in the Burlington, ON area, but will be willing to travel within a 100 km radius.
Any input would be appreciated

Hey Suncruiser Ron...personally I can't help out.... Do you Novi or Bushman have a preference?
I just use a single MegaTron Deep Cycle battery...Brad

Suncruiser Ron:
I have 4 T-105's and they work great. Not sure if you have a Battery World out there or not but I found they had the best price and the freshest batteries in Edmonton. Make sure you have the extra vertical clearance for them, they are taller that Group 24's.

Brad, by putting two 6 volt batteries in series you get a 12 volt supply. The 6 volt golf cart batteries provide you with a lot more power that the 12 volt batteries in parallel. This concept is not reserved for motorhomes, you could do the same thing in your 5th wheel if you had the room for two batteries. It would allow you to drastically increase your dry camping time before having to recharge the batteries.
Ron

I see Ron, Thanks. I assume the 6volt batteries are the same size as 12 volt, but have twice as many plates? which would result in twice the reserve power..? The 5er does have space for two batteries, with connecting cables, but I figured two 12's would be used...I've read about connecting in series but wasn't sure why...

Brad most 6 volt batt. are about 1/2 the size as a 12 volt but then You use 2 so the size is about the same as fare as space needed to hook up.But the amp hours or useabale voltage is more .I have 4 12s in My motor home But they are new and I did not buy them as I bought the M.H. with them just instaled or I would have the 6ers and there would be 8 of them..When I replace them that is the way I will go..3years is a most likely time frame as We boon dock a lot..The 4 12 were $700.00+ so You see why I will use them as long as I can.I have a solar panel I use also and LED lighting and inverter system not a great system by most standards but does the things I need and also We can always inprove or add on to it if We win the Lotto LOL Bushman

Hi
I have bought my T 105's for Lordco auto.
Paid around the $140.00 a piece.
Would not go any other way, a lot more reserve
power.

Thanks for the info Ron. Very valuable. I actually worked in the GM Delco battery Plant in Oshawa, Ont. for a short time, and wasn't even aware of all the info that is provided in this Link.
