This is a new recall that has popped up on many sites. Have not seen it mentioned on the Canadian site yet. I was one of the "lucky" ones to have one of the recall refridgerators. The work order begins in April. Hope mine does not self destruct before then. Just wondering if there are any other "lucky" ones out there. Misery loves company ya know.

here but, recently I had to get bi-focal glasses,(haven't got used to them yet) then Thursday I was perscribed "two" hearing aids at $7000.00, then Thursday evening, backed my truck into a tree in my yard (didn't have glasses on) totalled the bumper, pushed in rear 1/4 panel, give myself a slight whiplash!!! Yes Novi..Misery does love company.....I feel all alone!!!

Your not having a good time Brad. The details of the recall are in last months Highways magazine by Good Sam. It is also on the Good Sam RV forms, The faulty refers. were made between April 1997 and May of 2003. The recall has something to do with a fatigue crack in the boiler tube which may cause a release of sufficient amount of pressurized coolant solution into an area where an ignition source (gas flame) is present. Under certain conditions could ignite and result in a fire. Models affected: NDR10629999, RM26529999, Rm2662 9999, RM2663 9999, RM2852 9999, RM2862 9999, RM3662 9999, RM3663 9999, RM3862 9999, RM3863 9999. If you have one of these call 1 888 446 5157. The fix is FREE but you have get on the list. They will tell you where to take it. Mine is being fixed locally Dometic will send the kit to the dealer then in April you can make an appt. there to get it fixed. Sorry that this is so long a post.

Link to Dometic Information
You enter the model and serial number to find out if you have a unit on the recall list. If your unit is on the recall list there is important information for you.
It's interesting to watch how Dometic is handling the situation, it seems to be changing as they go along. The dealers here in Pictou County were unaware of the recall until I spilled the beans. I have no idea of what they (Dealers) intend to do about it.

Sorry! forgot to comfort Brad with his problems.
Well not being able to afford new hearing aids I got my brother in law's when he passed on. Still can't hear the best as the loss is continuing. However there is a good side to it, as you well know theres some things you don't want to hear I've had bi focals for years, you'll get used to them in time and then not bother with them. For instance, if you want a real sore neck use them while on the computer ( I got a pair of mid range for that) and I can drive without them so I'm wondering why I have them in the first place.
Now if it's any comfort it really doesn't improve but you'll get used to it Now ain't life wonderful
Sorry! the devil made me do it
Cheers Willis

Willis, your sure right about the bifocals. I use reading glass now after the cataract surgery but don't need them for driving now.

Well Thanks Willis My son says to me "Dad all you ol guys don't turn your heads..Just put 'er in reverse and go" Far as other health concerns ...gotta blame that on the food additives the manufacturers put in,and non organic food. .all the rest of that good stuff. Sure hope it dosen't get worse when I reach fifty-five.

Well having a winning ticket (sticker on the door) also and not too happy with the way they (Dometic) are handling it. It seem some will get complete units exchanged and some wont. Their instructions are "Out to Lunch" guess to cover their AS*.
1 If you have a 12volt dc model well use it on 12 volts (want to guess how long the batteries will last)
2 AC/LP model, use it on AC only. Now the first thought that comes to my mind is the culprit is the higher wattage heating element. Well it won't catch fire, but it sure will help in shortening the life of the cooling unit.
3 Don't use it on LP, well if a stress crack opens up there's possibility of fire.

I put my info in at the 1-888 number some time ago but haven't heard anything back from them yet. Just wondering who and how you were notified of the dealer to take it too.
Cheers Willis

Hi Willis, since our MH is registered in my wife's name she called them at that number. She says she just stayed on the line until a "real person" answered. She gave them the ID numbers and they told her where to take it and who would be doing the fix. But not to make any appts. until April. Then,,, we will see if it works the way we were told.???

Hmmm! I notice under my username someone set fire to another meadow muffin
Hi Novi, thanks, yep I was wondering if they started sending out the notifications yet. The place you're to take it to wouldn't be Fraser way RV would it? I noted they are the only Dometic dealer in Hfx area. I also noted Stone's RV in New Glasgow is their dealer in this area, I plan on going there Monday and ordering the correct heater element for it, lord knows when they'll get around to sending the kits. Main thing is not to panic and ruin your vacation, failure rate is less than 1%. My plan, when it warms up is to do an inspection of the affected area. If no problem is found then change the element to a 325 watt element, and then run it as normal. Hopefully the mod will be done by then.
Cheers Willis

Hi Willis, I agree there is no reason to panic. Lord knows how long the problem existed before they made a move to fix it. I will need to use mine next month so I too will check it but will use it as usual unless I find something, which I doubt. They said mine would be fixed at a place called CanAm trailers, about 10-12 km from here.
