Has anyone had any experience (good or bad) with aftermarket companies standing behind their warranty service. Secure Drive and Ensurall are two companies that come to mind

I should have been more clear. I'm talking about extended warranties for vehicles. Either for new or used.

I can't say about the two you listed. But this has been my experience with Good Sam's over the last two years

Posted November 15, 2008 07:38 PM Hide Post

I took out Good Sam's Maintenance because the unit we purchased was 11 years old. We felt if we had a drive train issue it could be expensive. Knock on wood we have not had any problems in that area. But I have filed some large claims due to the leveling system. It has been pretty much all replaced new. There has never been a problem getting the claim covered. And at this point my premium has not gone up. I've had the coverage for 2 years. I did take the $500.00 deductable. As far as Road Service I have always used Good Sam's. I have never had an issue with them either. The thing I like about them is they cover all my personal vehicles also. We bought our first RV 39 years ago. We have always used Good Sam's Road Service. But this is the first time for the Maintenance. If your unit is new it should have Warranty coverage. But I would not be with out the Road Service.

Unfortunatley the Good Sam maintenance program has the worst record of any extended service plan. It is also the most expensive. Just do a search on any RV forum and you will be surprised at the tactics they employ. Borders on dishonesty!

I just signed up for Good Sam roadside and was researching the warranty program. The list of exclusions is very long and confusing to me. Although Im sure they all have these lists.

My suggestion for anyone who comes in and asks about an extended warranty is to take the money that you would pay for it and put it in a seperate bank account. 95% of the time you will still have money in the bank wqhen the warranty time would have expired, and a whole lot less hassle arguing with some flunky on the phone as to why they would not pay for a repait that may have been required.
With some of these extended warranties costing anywhere from $2000-5000, that is a whole lot of repairs. And this way there are no exclusions.

I would like a powertrain warranty for piece of mind. I could put the 1500 dollars in a bank account but if the engine blows on a trip it could cost thousands.

I understand that I would probably not need the warranty ( 95 %) but I would like the piece of mind knowing that I wont get stuck with a 5 thousand dollar bill on our next vacation. I hate surpises.
