have lived back east and prefered the winters there over out here in the west coast.
however, I prefer the summers out here over the humidity back east.
In the past I contacted bigfoot and asked them what the lowest temp the 2500 series were rated for. "They" claim minus 25 celcius. In my experience that seems about correct but we routinely camp at temps well below that. You must take special precautions at minus 40 such as replacing all the open cell foam weather striping with a closed cell type. Otherwise the door might (will) freeze shut. I have made thermo-wrap inserts for all windows and skylights. At night we open all cupboard, drawer, and closet doors to allow warm air circulation.
we also use the fridge to store items we don't want to freeze.

Hate to winterize? Novi and Chad, do as I do, head South in October, stay til early to mid December, leave the rig in storage there, spend trhe Hollidays at home and head back South in January!
Tried it last year and it works great. My cost of storage is less in Georgia than in Burlington, and you save all that gas money hauling two ways. In fact, we do so little camping in the summer that we may just leave the rig in the South year long!!!

We are camping during the Sept. 30 - Oct.2 weekend at Wildwood Conservation Area near St. Mary's (and Stratford) and then during the Oct.21 -23 weekend at the GLPUC's (Michigan Chapter) "Boo Bash". After that event, sadly, it will be time to close the camper for the winter.

Brad, I thought you all were going to desert us for the winter.
Is that all changed with the gas prices being out of site?

Well LK ,these two trips(only within 150 miles from home) will just finish off our season. The extra cost for gas, won't justify not using our new 5er

Brad, You've got me puzzled. There are two negatives there.

But you are using your new 5er on these two trips, aren't you?

We'll be spending a 5 day long weekend at the Balls Falls conservation area in October. The last 2 years have been spectacular there are about 20 of us who dry camp it each year. It is the biggest craft show weekend in the Niagara area, many shows on at the same time.

??? The price of gas won't justify us staying home, and not using our new 5er....
