I'm seeing fewer rigs on the road and more sitting beside the road with for sale signs on them. Has the fuel prices got you travelling less? closer to home? or is your rig sitting with a sign on it?
In your opinion are we at the high end of fuel prices yet?

Nope. Heading out tomorrow on our maiden voyage to Peterborough Ontario as a test run for future travels. Looking forward to see others at the camp ground and on the road. I have seen quite a few on the 401 daily. Seen some on the lawns for sale too but I am not too concerned about the fuel prices. It will still be cheaper to drive the MH back then to fly one way for myself and my family.

No we still plan on traveling as much although I would be lying if I told you that I haven't felt the pain in the wallet.
We just returned from a 1400 mile round trip to Floridaand plan on a trop out West in Sept.
We have talked about shorter week end type trips but so far that hasn't happened.
No for sale sign on ours. We enjoy it to much and with the grand kids coming of age( 2&3) we hope to show them some of this wonderful country.
I think we haven't seen the top yet as far as how high fuel prices will go. Greed is what is driving this and I don't think human nature will change.

We are not traveling as much as I want to but only because we have to work Monday so that only gives us 2 days and we like to sit for at least 1 whole day so we make a lot of short trips to close by camp grounds

No to all of your RV related questions. I have no idea about the price of fuel question. Our travel is just as we have planned it. This year all CGs have been full (90% or better), except for Shipshewana, Indiana. This includes Alabama, Arkansas, Illinios, Michigan, Ontario, Niagara Falls, Binghamton, NY and New Paltz, NY. I have noticed, in all the CGs, the overwhelming predominance of vehicle tags are from the state we are in. To me, this means people are still using their RVs. They are using them closer to home. The conclusion might be that we will see fewer RV's on the highways. For me it means people are spending more time in the CG's of their choice.

Hi Brad, we sold our motorhome last month. The decision was not related to fuel costs although that has really gone up the last couple of years. It will come down again and maybe sooner than later I think. It took 2 weeks to sell it, and we got the price we wanted. No deep discount. So I may not be out there in the MH but someone else is. We have RVed in a MHs for the last 18 years and before that in tent trailers with the kids. We just decided it was time for a change. Bought a park model in Florida a couple of years ago and really enjoy it. Doesn't mean we won't go back to RVing. It was just time for a change.

No to all the questions.
I have found that most of the RV's in the CG's are mostly from in state, but have more open sites than occupied. The exception were both Niagara Falls KOA and the Watkins Glen KOA. Corning, NY we had our pick and we are now in Cooperstown, NY. 30 of the 50 sites are empty. The CG is 1 1/2 miles from the Cooperstown Dream Fields where every week 90-120 BaseBall teams play against each other for a week.
Calling ahead I have been told I have my pick of sites in Mystic, CT, Mt Washington, NH and Apple Island Resort near Essex Jct VT a few days before the FMCA NorthEast Rally.
We try to go in midweek and spend 6-7 days in each area. Only time CGs are any where near full are weekends.
Like GaryKD, the summers are for the Grand Kids. Have 2 on board and maybe adding 1 in VT.

Change is good Novi...enjoy your new life style, BTW your still more than welcome here. ...Brad

...While I don't venture too far from home during summer, we will still be travelling to sunny climes in winter. Some times the few extra dollars for fuel is well spent.... ...besides, there'll always be a reason not to go

We are still planning on our annual trip to Mexico this fall and from there up to newfoundland next spring/summer. I have not calculated the cost of the fuel yet. I am scared to cause I might decide to stay home and that would be a shame.
Novi, Good luck with your Florida home, I am sure you will enjoy it. St. Thomas will miss you. Please send Capri...LOL

G'morning Obi-Wan: Hey, saw your note above and noticed your reference to Newfoundland next spring/summer. My wife and I are pretty serious about taking the same trip next summer...it'd be fun to run into you guys up there. Who knows. Steve & Lynette

Quite a few things personally keeping us closer to home this summer. But fuel prices surely come into the picture. We had an annual get together last month and Bayou Segnette SP, we were the only local, 9mi. All else were from our FMCA chapter mostly from Baton Rouge.
Going to another get together next week in So. Ms., no more than 100mi. for anyone. Then just Miss Sue and I are going to Grand Is. SP. for a week in August, do some fishing and chill. 200 mi. round trip. But that trip is open for any of the others of our group who want to come.
Haven't got any big trips planned, maybe a Monaco Rally in Kerrville, Tx in November but we can make a month out of that.
Dave
