On our way to Sault-Ste-Marie we had stayed in a mall parking lot for the night at Nepean, Ont. The next morning early I was up and took a walk. Upon returning I kicked off my shoes and left them at the door, as we have a ''no-shoes'' law which is strictly enforced. Then while eating breakfast I turned on the motor to help the toaster and coffee pot as the batteries were not fyully charged. Along came two policemen and knocked on our door. Our windows are pretty dark and you cannot very well see inside. We opened the door and the policeman asked if everything was all right. Apparently someone who was going to work at the postal service across the street saw a pair of shoes, a van with the motor running and thought of a possible suicide.
It was heartwarming to know that the police were that good to investigate and check up on us. All of us got a laugh out of it.
