Thanks for answering some of my questions (even those that I did not ask)

We have had CAA RV Plus for years. Never had to use them. Think we’ll give Coach Net a try too.

Good Sam & CAA

I have had both for 7 years. We felt better with Good Sam traveling in the US but being CDN and having had CAA for 39 years I always paid the extra for the motorhome. Both great until crap happens.

State side in Buffalo we get a rear blowout. call CAA who have to communicate with AAA can be an issue. We told them that we had a 34' motorhome waited 4 hours and a 1/2 ton truck shows up and starts giving me crap for wasting his time. 7 hours later a commercial tire truck shows up.

That's when we decided to add Good Sam seven years ago. Last year we had all kinds of mechanical issues and Good Sam showed up 3 times with the proper equipment. Good Sam were gold to us.

Last fall as we were leaving south I check our bank account and I see a $95 deposit from Good Sam. I call them up and ask why did you deposit $95 into our account?. They replied, Ho you didn't get a letter yet? We canceled your membership because of excessive use. Just like that no warning one day before our US departure.

Your not in good hands with BAD SAM. We now have Coach Net and we still have CAA. Can you imagine had we not checked our bank account and left to the US and god forbid we had broken down on the Interstate. I don't want to see anyone stuck in that position. Buy anything but BAD SAM.

CAA is OK if you stay close to home. If you are in the states some areas do not have AAA RV service. Even when they do often you will get a one ton truck to tow a 40 ft. motorhome. If you need a landall CAA will not help you. Good sam and Coach net are the best in the business. A bad to truck driver can do many thousands of $$ of damage to a large MH.

Being a new Motor Home owner I am looking for as much information about everything Motor Home. And roadside assistance is something that is a necessary item to have in the tool box, beside out of province health coverage.

Before I start doing research on the various costs of plans, what do you guys expect to get from a roadside assistance plane?

On a standard automobile plan the services are usually, towing, battery boost, 20 litre of fuel, flat tire change and basic simple repairs.

What should I be looking for on my motorhome?

I know what AAA, CAA, Good Sam and Coach-Net are but what is BCAA?

Road Side Assistance

To me it's the most valuable of options and I would not leave the parking lot without it. 100' outside the gate your RV dies. Class a Big Rig. Your in a mess of trouble. Call a Tow Truck huge rig shows up, he goes underneath and removes your drive shaft, guess what you get a nasty $300 to $700 tow bill.

What's important in roadside assistance? Yes #1 is what they provide but # 1a is what's not included. What are their policies. I had one drop me off in an auto body yards in the middle of BF nowhere because that was considered the closest repair center, not even a garage, not fun at 10pm.

How many tows or calls will they allow. I had a good friend, his name was Sam, paid him faithfully for 7 years never any calls. One year we had a persistent problem and got 3 towing's. October rolls around and we are leaving south 1,500 miles, RV is packed and ready to go. I notice a deposit in our account of $95 from our friend Sam. I call Sam and ask why did you deposit $95 into my account today, Sam replied, ho you didn't get a notice yet we cancelled your membership for excessive use. Can you imagine had we left without knowing and broke down at 10pm on an Interstate.

READ THE FINE PRINT.

Stay clear of SAM. I won't get technical but had a very bad experience 2 years ago. Went with FMCA.
