Looks like spring is finally here. What are your plans for this year??? If fuel prices go much higher than now..will we still travel??

After seeing southern gardens for part of the winter, I'm getting anxious to get my yard work started. Think I will do a much larger veg garden this year...hopefully I can keep the varmits away.

Brad, I'm about to start operation sun tan. Yep, allergic to sun screen, so I need tan screen.

I will e-mail you a picture.

The thing is to dig tunnels in the remaining snow. I have actually started this, but it takes 2 or 3 weeks for the prime areas, then I keep going higher up. Many of us do it. Great way to be outdoors and doing.

Fuel prices are part of this lifestyle. Some of will stay a little longer in one spot to help hold down fuel costs.

Spring has sprung,
Fall has fell,
Summer's here,
Hot as ........usual.

I actually think this is one way of keeping prices lower. If we don't buy as much fuel, the price may come down due to over production. This may sound like a dream to some, but if I'm not doing as much driving, I'm not paying as much money.

Sure seems like spring has arrived down here in the banana belt! Worked up an awful sweat doing DD's brakes yesterday (just how evil Focus rear brakes are you don't want to know) and she along with DW were out cruising about topless doing wedding prep or something like that. Even plan to get the truck washed this am! Onions and radishes are in....

Ian, it's only March, we didn't even do that when I lived in inland Pennsylvania growing up. I knew of people in coastal Nova Scotia, when I lived there, who would get their potatoes in during April. I never thought the world demanded such an early crop from me.

getting up there Novi... trees will be starting to "bud' soon. In Feb in Texas the trees were starting to bud, flowers were blooming. When we left...trees were in full leaf, days were sunny and warm....spring had sprung. Looking forward to seeing it happen again here real soon.

It was 25 here yesterday and we were in London today with the top down....near 25 again from the feel of it....but 5 here at the Lake right now with fog and a light NE wind. I was listening to the Chatham station on the way home and they said 79 with storms coming in!!
I always rush the season for radishes and onions...can't hurt them and I eat 'em all up pretty quickly in late Apr, May and June. A small row of peas goes in Apr 7 roughly ..I love them raw, never make it into the kitchen. With a tiny garden (8X12 +-) the crops have to make way for the next planting near June 1 for tomtoes, hot peppers and zucchini and the fig trees come alive then and would shade the radishes too much. And no, I'm not Italian or Portuguese...just a good eater!

Ian do you put in fresh compost, bone meal, etc, for crop 2?

BTW I have 2600 square growing feet. The overall size of the garden is about 3200 square feet.

Target is to get everything in by July 1. I don't try to put in any seed before June 1.
