Brad, poor Baby.... I'd like to see temps of only 30 dC. We have been running 35 dC plus for some time now and NO rain.

Ken

Hey Ken... Thats an Ontario Record, according to Stats.Canada. When the Humid"X" is factored in.. most temps are 40+ C. These numbers are totally not normal for Ontario. ...Brad

Hot? You want hot? I'll give you hot......yesterday I went out back and picked four apples from my tree, and they were already baked! So this mornning I sprayed the tree with maple syrup and now I'll have desserts for a month.

Global warming? Did you see the newclips last night? Kangaroos hopping around in the snow; and something like 20 cm of snow in the Melbourne area! For a vast number of Aussies, this is the first time they've ever seen so much as a single snowflake in their entire lives!

Looks like we're gonna get a whole lot of empathy from Oklahoma-Ken!!

"Hot" (as in SW hot) is one thing; but hot and humid is a whole 'nother matter. I recall the first time we crossed the Mojave in 120 degree (50C) temperatures; and that was way back in the mid '70s when air conditioning was considered a mere novelty for those born of priviledge, with nothing else to do with their $$$. Nothwithstanding that we had youth on our side, the whole effort wasn't all that distressing. As we crawled though the desert behind another RVer at mere 10 mph with the engine heat gauge well into the red; instead of mile-markers, they had 45 gallon drums labelled "radiator water."

Nevertheless, the SWest was dry! Even when making a sandwich for lunch, at 3% humidity, it would have already formed a hard dry crust before you ever managed your first bite.

From our experience, 120F accompanied by 3% humidity, is a whole lot easier to handle that a 90 + 90 scenario.

This is the first summer in a long time, that we've spent a summer in Ontario; and with the heat and humidity, it's not all that much fun. Living in a glass cage demands electrical hookups for this kind of weather. At best, if you arrive at an Ontario Provincial Park without reservations, you might be able to secure an electrical site; and to continue with electrical sites, usually means placing your order before noon at the campground office, and being moved to a new unreserved site. Although you might luck out for two or three days at best, it won't take long for your options to run out, and you are forced to move on.

We lived in Toront in 1976 and 1977 and they thought they were gong to die when it was 95 dF for a couple of days.

I lived most of my life in west Texas (Hot and dry, try 117 dF) and them in Houston (hot and humid, try 100 dF and humid), so we have lived in lots of extremes.

I was just poking some fun at our neighbors to the North.

I heard on the weather channel that Ont. has had 25 days of 30+C heat this year, it is usually 13. We are running at 2 times the usual so far this year, and the HUMIDITY whew!!, what is there left to say

Tania and I were born and raised across the pond (Lake Ontario) from Toronto in Rochester NY. In addition to Kodak and Xerox, Rochester is known for it's mild rainy summers and cold nasty winters of 100" plus snowfall.

We were in Rochester for the month of July, temps hit a high of 95F daily and it rained only one time! I can't wait to see what the winter will be like.

Here in central Florida, temps are running about normal with highs of 92F, humidity of 80 percent and daily thunderboomers.

Tania and Dave

(I love that software that lets you wand what you want to quote and just puts it up there)

Dave, Dave, Dave, in this country 'across the pond' means the big pond or the Atlantic Ocean, so 'across the pond' is the UK or EU.

Speaking of EU I hear the Netherlands has been having mucho rain, cool and wet. Today they expect sun, which is great because Amsterdam is hosting the tall ships.

As for the NL on this side of the pond (here, I mean), I think even while I've been away, it's been comparatively pleasant, ie. 20's during the day.

As for my Atlantic trip, NS, PEI, NB, & ME, the only day I really thought I was going to melt was while I was in the line in St. Stephen, NB waiting to go through U.S. customs at Calais. Of course, a lot of my NB time was on Islands, Grand Manan and Campobello.

So, for all you poor souls, who won't put up with higher gas prices in return for Atlantic breezes.

Well, you know the way we Americans are. You tell us about one of your sayings and we'll hijack it for our own purposes.

Seriously, in Rochester, "across the pond" refers to Ontario in general and Toronto specifically. Oh well, the two coutries uniqueness is what makes them so great.

Your right Dave, once in Pennsylvania I asked the clerk how much for a submarine, she looked at me like I was from Mars, apparently they are called hoagies??? My wife ordered a milk shake and that is all she got, no ice cream and no flavouring, then the clerk says, "why honey, you all want a frap"?? I do??? there are many other small difference we have discovered but they were our first and most memorable. This is probably a whole new area for discussion.
