Not sure exactly why Bob N Deb, but probably because of CSA non-compliance.Oh! and welcome to the Canada Forum, and Please do request your iRV2.com sticker for that Southwind. ...Brad

The Holiday Rambler motorhome can be imported into Canada if it is 1992 or newer. The vehicle is listed in the Transport Canada Registar. See this web site address for all details:

Bob,

Go to page 19 and look under Monaco Coach Corp. Holiday Rambler Division and you will see that all models 1992 or newer are importable.

Coach has to be permissable into Canada by the Registered Import Vehicle from Toronto Ont who work in conjunction with Transport Canada. They put out a list and last time I looked all major manufacturers where approved including Monaco. You need to go to this website and look at the list. It's all there. The coach does not have to be CSA approved if you are importing it as an individual in Canada. The dealers in Canada will tell you that because they don't want you going there. All dealers who are reselling the product have to have CSA approval. I've been through this.

Hello All,

I am just in the early stages of importing a 2004 42' Monaco Dyasty that I have bought at Demartini's in California. I have done all of the required paperwork and now just need the dealer to fax it to a border crossing. Does anyone have any experience with getting a temporary license plate, do I need to get one in California/Nevada or does the dealer supply these?

Thanks

Hello ...hound, the dealer will provide a temporary paper license plate for travel, good usually for four weeks.
The import experiance isn't all that bad and certinally worth the savings. I just imported in Dec/07 and if more help is needed just let me know.

Thanks for the reply,

I plan on driving down to California tomorrow and pick up the unit on Thursday. The dealer still has to get the paperwork faxed to U.S. Customs, I have the insurance in place and all I need is get the motorhome. I have the RIV inspection all set and have found a place in Calgary that does the Out-of Province inspections. Once all of that is completed I can register the motorhome here in Alberta. The only thing I forgot to check is the license plate issue and it sounds like the dealer will take care of that, at least I will be talking to them about this issue. Now it becomes a matter of doing a PDI, we already did one prior to agreeing to the purchase but will do one more before handing over the money.

Sounds like you got all your ducks in a row. Enjoy your trip and be safe....Brad
P.S. I read the loonie was supposed to drop down below .90 again, so this is a good time to buy....
..P.S.S make sure U.S. Border Customs has the paperwork(title)72HRS prior to your crossing..I called and made sure it was in their possesion.
