Insurance for Storing in the US

Hi. I have a Class A motorhome that I was hoping to be able to store for the winter in the southern US (Oct to April). I had planned on driving it down south at the end of September and leaving it there so that I have easy access at Christmas time and would not have to winterize it.

My insurance company just confirmed that they will not cover the motorhome for this period because I would not be with it, or have easy access to it - I live in Ontario.

Does anyone store their motorhome in the southern US and continue to have insurance coverage with a Canadian company ?

We have also been told that our Canadian underwriter will not cover our coach while it is stored in the USA. I have contacted them for specifics of that and any other restrictions on the policy of which have not been informed.

Surely there are lots of iRV2 Canadian members who leave their coach or trailer for some length of time while in the USA, either to take a cruise, visit another part of the country without the RV, or to return home for a family visit, expecting it to be covered by insurance just as it would be if they were away from it while it was in storage in Canada.

Is there an iRV 2 member with the same issue that may have found a solution who can respond, or someone who knows an American based insurance agent who can offer short term coverage while a Canadian residents RV is stored in the USA?

I think the key words here are "would not be with it". Even with house insurance they get nervous if the house is unoccupied for a period of time and not being checked on frequently. Frequently as in every few days.
