camper1b, what does the 1 b stand for?

The 4 eastern most provinces of Canada are jam packed with scenery, nice little centres and fun things to see and do. Much of that is not touristy or really developed for tourists. Or in other words, give yourself lots and lots of time, espcially to a 2roadrunners variation of plans.

& per acquaintence with teens or post teens, do these things before your oldest reaches age 16 and wants to have a job for the summer.

we start camping in sept and finish up the following june.
usually do not camp in june july or august.
each september we pick a remote corner of bc and go explore for 3 or 4 weeks.
thru the winter we take week long trips but the location is determined by the weather and the amount of snow/ice.
planning to head to callaghan lake for thanksgiving, not much of a campground but the lake is spectacular.

rockman,

It might be nice to hear more of why you all like winter camping.

While you're out there, what are your usual activities.

How do you locate your camping spots? Are there campgrounds in remote spots that are open all year? Plowed out..... Or can you locate other places to 'park'/boondock?

Yes, we have done Quartzite and quite enjoyed it. We are doing Florida again this winter found a place we greatly enjoyed last year. We found we need to change our venue periodically, we get restless and need to see different things. That why we have wheels and works for us.

what do we do when winter camping?
all the usual stuff you would do camping in the summer.
well, except sun tanning and maybe swimming.
we hike, cross country ski, ice fishing, photography, catch up on reading, and of course R&R.
all this without the bugs, brats, bears, and boomboxes.
you must be willing to dig yourself out occaisionally but that is the only inconvenience.
we do not camp in the summer, so during the spring and fall we scout out new locations or check on road conditions.
then keeping an eye on the weather we choose destinations based on amount of time available.
we have experienced "condo" style camping but prefer to solitude winter camping affords.
we have friends scattered throughout bc and make arrangements to meet up with them at some of these remote campsites.
