Well we know the campgrounds in Canada will be full this weekend as this weekend seems to be the official start of the camping season in Canada and its a long weekend to boot.
Enjoy your weekend and drive safe.

I don't plan on going anywhere near a campground on Memorial Day weekend. I'll wait until the once per year weekend warriors are safely tucked back into their storage places.

When I lived in Ontario, and much much younger, the May long weekend was coined the "may two four" long weekend. This referenced a case of beer which was 24 bottles thus indicating this two four weekend was about drinking 24 beer. I never made the grade, but had fun trying.

Have a great long weekend. The sun is shining here in Red Deer, Ab.

Dave, the SUN shines always in AB. Sky is blue (most of the times). We drove a bit around the LOWER MAINLAND (in a car). The Campgrounds are FULL. RCMP is on Checkstop mission. Pulled a lot of cars out the line??
Have a great LONG weekend.

I stay home the may weekend due to the over abundance of the Great Canadian Yahoo's that think this weekend is for them to display their drunken stupidity.
The horrendous amount of black flies and nippers are a close second deterant.

We spent the weekend with 98 Families and with group camping like this the "24" celebration is not a problem. We had a lot of fun and the weather held off for most of the weekend.

We spent the long weekend with our grandchildren in Killbear Provincial Park near Parry Sound Ontario. The provincial parks have an alcohol ban on the 24 weekend so the yahoos stayed home and we had a wonderful time. Yes the bugs were out but a little Off took care of them.

I was wondering if what I read was correct and the cost of provincial parks is now $42 a night for electric only??

Yes $42 for an average site or up to $46 for a premium site. And no water or sewer! It is almost impossible to get a site for a weekend unless you book as soon as the reservation service opens - this year in January!
There is a discount for Ontario Seniors.
Killbear is a wonderful place for families with well spaced sites in the woods, hiking trails and a huge beach. Definately for nature lovers. Our grandson spent most of the weekend exploring a stream through the woods to the beach.

One of our chapters here in Ontario volunteers to do a clean up at the Provincial Campground in Darlington, and we have participated the last two years. In return for a weekend of free work, we also get 2 nights free at the campground after the Labour Day weekend. Guess at $42 a night it does have some value. Its sad the sites are so overpriced though.
Is there also a fee for the reservations???
Welcome from another Georgetown owner. We leave on July 4th for Charleston SC.

Make sure your a/c is in really good shape when you head down to Charleston...We spent the last few winters in that area with the 5th wheel and were there for a week in the summer. It can be REALLY HOT....The humidity last summer was even worse than usual according to our neighbours who live in the area full time.

We have two AC units, one in the front for day time use and one in the rear for nite time. We only have access to 30 amp power so we have to use one at a time. This campout is held in a fair ground.
We have a 50 amp entrance but will not be able to take advantage.

Hey, FC and Groveite
Nice to know there are others from Ontario using this site.
We are new to Class A camping and to this site but slowly getting the hang of things.
We spent some time in Charleston last fall while our Toad was under repair and quite enjoyed the city.
And yes, there is a charge (about $8.)for booking Ontario Parks online.
