Roadrunners, what do you know that I don't know? Why is Dec. 1 significant?
Maxim: when prices are declining, just get what you need.
when prices are rising, tank up.

I wish the announcement made by GM was a Joke!! Apparently it isn't. The loss of nearly 4000 jobs in GM Oshawa will surely impact the economy as well as the poor souls who must find other jobs. All this to take place by 2008.
My troubles seem some what small now. Can we all say GAS PRICES.

What can we say to all those who warned us about "Free" Trade and what the multinationals would do if?
Will you still go the GM route, Brad?

I was just at the CNN site, GM is cutting 30,000 jobs and closing plants. They have all had a good run for the last several years it can't go on forever there has to be a pull back sometime. But it still hurts if your one of the ones losing your job. I hope they do it by normal attrition if possible, retirement, people quiting on their own and the normal turn over of staffing.

If the dollar remains like it is, we will see other layoffs and even closures. Many Cdn. companies who sell internationally would bid so as their profits were drawn from the rate of exchange. To continue a pretty fair profit, the rule of the thumb was, two years ago anyway, based on .75¢ on the dollar.
The shipyard where I worked as not been doing good at all for quite a few years, (Canada Steamship Lines renews their ships by having them built in Brazil), and as of late a potential buyer, a fellow with a big cigar plopped a proposition on the table......25% pay reduction, no more premiums for hazardous/toxic work and a few other goodies being cut. ''I have ships to build....take it or leave it''. BTW, he is not Canadian, so you know where the profits will end up.
A lot of MHs for sale around here! (92.4¢ this morning........I'll have to rush out and fill my tank, Thursday is a favourite day to raise gas prices).

Auto manufactures are eyeing mainline China for production and assembly. They're starting to get their ducks in line.

Only problem with that Tom, is the people here with no job can't buy vehicles made there. With the low wages the Chinese make, they can't afford to buy cars made there either. Kinda like a Catch 22!!!

Our Petroleum Pricing board has posted that gas stations in my area can charge $1.001 per litre. The price of $0.999 is still posted on the pumps I've seen today.
I thought you all were saying the trend is down??
