Tania and I are full timers and have been since 1999. Normally we stay 3 months or more at a location and as a result, we look for full service campgrounds close to major metropolitan areas. That allows us to meet the locals and get to appreciate the local music, theater and restaurants.

When we first started full timing in 1999, we stayed at a campground on the Eastern Maryland shore with the nearest major community being some 25 miles away. We immediately recognized that we didn't want our pre-retirement very active social life to come to a screeching halt and couldn't wait till we got to Rehobeth Beach in southern Delaware.

One of the great things about the full time RV lifestyle is we can change our minds this afternoon and be somewhere else by the end of the week.

Dave & Tania

Not meaning to hijack Brad's thread but I agree also with Dave/Tania. I think that is part of the alure to RVing, for us anyway. I can "rough" it dry camping away from everyone or I can be in an upper end resort during the winter with a busy social agenda, or anything in between. The choice is mine depending on my frame of mind and mood at the time. I tend to access the whole gauntlet of types of campgrounds from parking in a field to the RV resort.

I posted my previous post while in mid trip on Grand Manan Is., where I was using electrical connection in PP set up in 'open concept' or big field thing. But while I felt like I was in a fish bowl, at least my neighbors were more than 30' feet from me.

In NS PP's don't have hook ups at all. So, the question came to mind, dry camping where there is green space in view vs. urban parking on cement.

Or, how near is your 'rented space' to your neighbors vs. the same in an apartment. Viewing from avoiding parking lot styled cg's, it seems to me that quite a number of people 'get away from it all', by putting themselves into tighter proximity with others than they would tolerate in an apartment house.

Or, geeze, I'd review what type of rig I had, if I found myself putting up with that.
