I recently found out that provincial parks in Ontario are being run by outside contractors.

I'm I the only one in Ontario that didn't know this? For instance, Lake of Two Rivers in Algonquin Park has been operated by the same contractor for nine years. I would imagine the rest are out sourced as well. Has any one else heard this?...Brad

Guess by out sourcing, Government dosen't employee these people, there by not having to pay pensions or benifits.

Your right, they started that several years ago in the health care system where I worked, as a way of saving money. Most hosp. used to do their own laundry now it's all contracted out. Same with laboratory work. It is cheaper than each hospital staffing and maintaining it's own.

I did not know that about all of the Provincial Parks.
I thought that was strictly Selkirk P.P. that was contracted out because some of their camp sites are seasonal and many transient sites had both electricity and water.

I think The Pinery has been contracted out for some years. The last time we were there, we were very disappointed. It used to be that they would block off over-used sites for a year or two to allow the vegetation to regenerate. It looks like not any more.

Hello Tony... First of all I see your a new member. Welcome. Stop in often. iRV2Stickers on request

I have found the parks seem to becoming more "used" looking. Sad they are taking more out of the parks than they seem to be putting back in.

Hi Tony,

Did I lure you over here, or was it others?

Brad, FWIW, Tony has a book out, a travellog/blog & trailer care book. Home and a-wheeled : the waiting game & life on the road

Just to keep to the thread. Did you notice much PP contracting out this summer?

Hi brad. Signed up 3 years ago but rarely got back here so I guess I am kind of "new". How about "recycled"?

Hello LK. Computer was down and came across irv2 in my URLs print-out. Remembered you mentioning it so took a look-see and found out I was already a member! I spend a lot of time over at the HybridRV site which is trailer-specific. As for PPs, we stayed at Neys PP this summer for the first time and it's the opposite to The Pinery. The 2-3 days drive up there will be well worth it in the future.
