Can anyone recommend a good RV park in Vancouver, BC? We will be there July 16 thru July 20. Our MH is 39' and we have a toad.

The only plans we have so far are a visit to Victoria and Butchart Gardens. We are open to suggestions for other things to see and do. We will have our 13 year old grandson with us also.

We will be in Calgary for the Stampede and a stop in Vancouver is planned on our way home.

if you want to go over on the ferry to Victoria, here is one that is minutes from the Tsawwassen terminal. It will be simple to get from there to the ferry terminal, and almost as simple to get from the Schwatz bay terminal end to Butchart Gardens. It is also right beside a waterpark, and go-cart track.

It will also be the simplest to get to with the RV, and easy to get back enroute to the border crossing - unless you take the RV over to Victoria then take the Coho ferry over to Port Angeles, or Anacortes ferry into the Gulf islands and into WA that way.

Here is a link to a BC website that lists most by commmunity. White Rock will be between the Ferry terminal and the border, and Surrey will be the area that you travel through to get from the Trans-Canada highway to the ferry terminal. Langley isn't far away either.

The previously recommended Capilano RV park in the other thread is a long way across town from the Ferry. It is closer to things like Stanley Park and the Aquarium though.

I lived in Victoria until 2006, so if you have any more specific questions, let me know.

Parkcanada looks good, I'm sure the grandson would love the waterpark and go-cart track! The ferry charges for the MH, tow car, and the 3 of us looks prohibitive.

BC Ferries expensive......only if you consider an arm and a leg expensive.

when I came across with my last move, it was almost $200.00 for the trip. Made living on the island pricy to do the trips out. Good thing was that there was always lots to do on the island.

Butchart Gardens will take a good 1/2 day, but will be really boring for a 13 year old. its a nice garden, but.......

downtown Victoria has a bunch of neat museums(big National geographic, wax etc), undersea gardens, butterfly gardens, and a miniature world.

In reality it depends on what you want to see, your hobbies and interests.

example - if you are into car racing - that would be a great weekend to go onto the island to the RV park that has the racetrack then you can take the time to visit downtown another day, let Grandma spend a whole day at the Garden while you let the boy expend a bunch of energy by wandering around many of the parks nearby, or fish in some of the small lakes, or batting cages, go carts, etc etc.

There are a number of things to see and do - there are tours available at the local Navy Dockyard, and a Navy museum as well.

here is another website with Victoria calendar.

Not trying to sway you either way, but I know Victoria well, so I can give plenty of ideas.

it also offers up the opportunity to leave the island via the other ferries to do a different path down the coast.
