Satellite TV Service in the US
Hi. I'm looking for satellite tv service options when travelling in the US. Dish TV has a month to month plan that would be a great option for us. I'm not so sure that as a Canadian, I can get this service, but I've asked them and am waiting for a response.
What have other Canadians done regarding satellite tv service while in the US ? It appears Bell and Shaw are not available south of the border.
As a Canadian am I stuck using campground cable tv or do I have satellite options ?
Thanks

Seen lots of Canadians using their Shaw/Bell dishes in the US. The satellites don't care where you receive. Local broadcast channels would be the only issue.

Oh yes they do, the newer Bell satellite will only give you reception a few hundred miles south of Buffalo. I don't have Shaw, but a friend who does says they split the channels between old and new satellites, the old will give you coverage almost all of the US, but only SD channels, no HD stuff.

I have no experience with this, but if you know someone in the US, maybe you could get Dish service by using their US address.

How about you establish a mailing address in the US and purchase a Wally or 211. Then sign up for Dish using that address?

We are Canadian snowbirds and have used Dish pay as u go
for years. We initially bought the Tailgator and the receiver from
Camping World. We then called a Dish dealer in Garden City to
come to the RV park and set us up.
He did so, using the park address. We have the bill sent to our email.
We require a US phone so I got a Tracfone from W/M.
Whenever we change location, I call Dish, tell them I am in an RV,
changed location, and want local programming. It is done in less
than 15 minutes.
We have found Dish will work in Canada, how far north, I do not know.
We did travel across Canada to the Maritimes and it worked all
the way. We could not call to change location, because they do not
accept a US phone, Tracfone does not work in Canada, and Dish will
not change location in Canada.
When we dropped down into Maine, I called Dish, they switched me over
to Eastern satellites, gave me the local programs, and all was good.
We have had no problem with Dish pay as u go. If you own your
equipment, you just do not pay when you come home for 6 months.
I go online in Fall, restart, and carry on.
My billing address has always stayed in Garden City, but I still get my
bill on email.
