Hi, looking for information on Sherkston Shores on Lake Erie. We are thinking about making reservations there but would like to know if it is as nice as the brochure and website makes it look. We would be traveling with our three kids ages 3 - 9. Thanks

Hello CNY_AF32D; First of all Welcome to our web site. Good to have you aboard.
I have seen the ads on TV... it looks like a great place. Don't know any one who's been there. I'll snoop around..see what I can find out. It is close to alot of attractions,Niagara Falls, Marine land, Darien Lake etc. and with your exchange rate, you should do alright

We went there a couple of years ago and I personally would not go there again. It was the camping trip from H.E. double hockey sticks.

First off we got there after 6:00 p.m. so the guard at the guard house had to try and confirm we had reservations, because nothing was left for them to let us in. Grrrrrrrr - so anyways he finally let us go to our campsite after much pleading. We went to our campsite and it was like camping in a field. We went back to the guard house to pick another campsite. Guard didn't know how to use the computer, so I went and did it (having no clue what I was doing). Found another campsite. We were promised that the "new" washroom facilities would be up and running by the time we got there. If you call a couple of blue porta potties "new" washrooms well I guess they were right. The washroom wasn't even near being finished.

We got set up and the next day the water tap at the back of our campsite decided to explode. We had a mini giser (sp?) at the back of our site. Within minutes we were about 3" under water. dh tried unsuccessfully to get the water to go the other way and ended up going to tell security our problem. Security finally drives out after about 15 minutes and determines he can't do anything about it, so calls maintenance. Another 15 minutes goes buy and maintenance comes out, they decide hmmmmm we can't fix it, we need to find the water shut off. To make a long story short, we were floating in water and after 45 minutes they realized how to shut water off.

We asked security to move us, hmmmmmm don't think we can. I have two 3 year olds and a four year old and our trailer is in water. Yeah buddy you are moving us. We were moved to a "Premium site" (hahahahahahahahaha). No one bothered to help us move. We get to the premium site (pull thru) the guy across from us is walking around with a towel around him and nothing underneath, flashing all his friends. Oh great we have a party animal on our hands.

That night in the middle of the night, dh wakes up and rushed out of the trailer. He could hear someone yelling, so thinks it is the older couple near us. Turns out the "local" teenagers are going around to the transiet sites stealing what they think is beer. We find out later from security this is a regular occurrence. It was kind of funny though, because dh and another man were running around in their underwear after these kids.

We went to the office to see what could be done about our camping from #$#$@#$# and all they could say is "well you were moved to a premium site."

Also the under tow at the beach is supposed to be really bad, and we were warned to stay away from swimming in the lake.

If you are looking at camping near Niagara Falls, there is another one that is closer to Niagara and is supposed to be alot better then Sherkston Shores. I can find out the other name if you would like.

Just did a search and the park is called "Riverside" http://www.riversideparkcampground.com/

We went there last summer. We will not be going back. The place is huge, extremely busy, golf carts everywhere.Teenagers driving the carts, the sites were small unless you payed extra to get the premium site(which are pull thrus)then you had a little elbow room. Couldn't have a fire because the foot and a half deep pit was on top of the next trailer.Just didn't have a very good time.

So If things are that questionable, maybe not a good place to visit, I don't know, I've never been there

Had friends who owned a seasonal trailer and site there but sold it last year. Very nice park to visit for the water park, beach or special events, but as for camping there. Never over a weekend, just way too busy to relax!

We have a week booked there in August! We went and checked it out last year and after six years of RV'ing accross the Continent, we found it to be a very nice park in a great location. It is huge, but the attraction for us was activities for our grandkids, what with the water park, arcade, games ect.

The sites, we booked the so called premium, were OK but do get there early to select if you cannot go there to pre-select, as we did.

It is difficult to accuratly picture the lay-out from the web site diagram.

We understand it is very busy so we are ready for that. On the other negative comments, we will know more in September!!!

Bob
