Have you started your summer vacation plans yet? Will the cost of fuel keep you close to home? Will the increases in Provincial Parks send you to private C/G's?

UP and posting at 4:30 a.m. your time. WOW!!!
You don't say if you're pretty sure about your own plans yet. You have said you were thinking about The Rock.
As for this resident of The Rock, I'm going to Labrador, 4 ferries {->} to go around, probably more than that because I've heard there are little trips out to islands off the Labrador coast. The route is from St. Barbe -> Blanc Sablon, drive Cartright-> Happy Valley Goose Bay, drive Churchill Falls, Labrador City, Wabush, Fermont, Baie Comeau -> Matane, North Sydney, NS -> Port aux Basques, 2.5 hours home.
& hoping to pick certain brains on additional ways to find boondocking spots.
3 weeks.

I would Love to do NL again, and if all goes as planned, will be there in July. We only have one more wedding this year ( youngest son) so all bases should be covered.
The cost of campsites in Ontario Provincial parks is getting kinda scarry. I think as long as people keep flocking to th P/P's the prices will continue to rise.

Have you considered driving along the North Shore of the St. Lawrence and up to Labrador City from Baie Comeau. It would be more or less a reverse of my route. From what I understand this is the preferred route of people who live in Lab. City.

You know, It never occured to me , that a seasonal site in a park you like, will save a lot of gas money and running around. With gas costs as high as they are...this is a really good idea.Excellent idea fishncamp.....now if there were just more places in southern Ontario that weren't crawling with people.......Brad

our summer plans?
hide out around the house and avoid the crowds,
catch up on yard work, wash and wax T&C and dream of winter storms.
heading for the hills for the week of valentines day.
if we are lucky we might get stuck in the snow.

If you folks up there in Canada need a place to vacation this summer, you might consider the 2006 iRV2 National Rally that will be held in the Great Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. Join us and experience all that the Pigeon Forge and surrounding areas have to offer.
The rally will be held at the River Plantation RV Park in Sevierville, TN and the dates will be July 16-22, 2006.
Several action packed and fun filled venues are planned for your enjoyment and entertainment, including a day at Dollywood, a dinner show at the Dixie Stampede, and a horse drawn hayride tour of Cades Cove in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Bus transportation is being planned to and from almost all of the venues.
The rally is priced at a value at $274.27(US) for the entire week. The fee includes a full hook-up site for up to 4 people, an escort to your site, a rally packet, a welcome dinner, a breakfast on Thursday, door prize drawings, an Ice Cream Social, and much, much more. Trips to Cades Cove, Dollywood tickets, and dinner at the Dixie Stampede are priced optionally, click on the links in the National Rally forum for additional details and pricing.
Come and rally with us, we provide a relaxed atmosphere for you to do as little or as much as you like!
Go to the National Rally forum for all the details on this fun filled, action packed, sixth annual National Rally!
Sign up today! We have reserved only 75 sites for this event and they're going fast. We'd love to have folks from Canada attend, shucks if enough of y'all come we'll change the name to the "International Rally".

Hey, y'all down there. Go down that far south in July. I can't sleep if the temperatures are 21'C/70'F or more. & the days, well, to spend the days hiking and all outdoorsy stuff when those temperatures will be above 80'
I surely do suggest y'all come up to this part of Canada, where you could just have some relief from all that swelter and melt.

Not a bad suggestion, maybe someone up there would like to be the wagon master and organize an International iRV2 Rally in 2007 or sometime thereafter? If so, contact our founder "Warpath".

A Rally, well a rally would be for the hardy. Basic fact, ferry rates by the shortest path start @ $76.50 for under 20' and go to $305.75 for the over 60' rigs. Then there are the passenger fares, and if you want a cabin, and meals.......
As I said for the hardy. It's a very beautiful island.

Let me not waste a chance to promote this place.

Well Brad, any suggestions for a 2007 Rally in Ontario?!?!?
Not sure if that was a dare, or a door being politely opened.
In any case, some our summer plans have already been inputted to the Camis Provincial Park reservation system and much to my surprise - even with the price increase for camping PLUS the surcharge for the reservation, not many sites are left for the Holiday weekends that are now open for booking.
Hope to see some more Irv2 stickers out there this summer!
Mike.
