Thinking about buying a Class C
Hi
I have seen a 2001 Class C, Glendale Royal Expedition Classic, 28 ft., E450 V10. It is in great condition, new tires, new fridge, new brakes.
List Prices on similar units in Autotrader vary quite a bit depending on the province. This one is listed at $19,500 in Ontario. Blue book value on a 2004 is $24,000. or so I have been told. I can't find the Blue book value for a 2001.
Anyone think $19,500 is too high for a 2001? I'm asking in the Canada Region group because I think Glendales were manufactured here and our prices are higher.
I hope somebody here has some information on this. Thanks

Go to NADA RV for local values (should have a Canadian version). Then check with PPL Motorhomes and their website for recent sales.
I'm assuming you are speaking in Canadian dollars? Does it have slides?
Just looked on NADA and found it as low retail at $10,440 avg. retail $12,580 US. You have to look under brands to find it.
Hope that helps

Hi
Thanks for the all the info. I'm still doing online searches.
The one I'm looking at doesn't have slides and is $19,500. I checked out the info on the one in Peterborough and it is identical except price is $13000. When I do an online search the average price is $19,000 for this unit. So I think it would pay to head for Peterborough.
Thanks again for the input.

Hi
I live in Stamford area of Niagara, near Stamford Green. You are a long way from home. If you haven,t been here for a while, things have changed a lot with big hotels and a casino near the falls. The population doesn't get any bigger though, just 82000.
I'm still hunting for class c but I may go for something smaller, 22 or 24 ft.

When I was very very young we lived somewhere in Stamford Center but I have no idea which street. My first recollections are of Lawrence Ave and my grandmother's place on Crysler Street (between Bridge and Park) by the CN train yard.

I had a choice when we bought our C Class a 24 or a 28 with a back bedroom. I opted for the 24 which was a huge mistake. I ran into the guy who bought the 28 and he and his wife were very happy with the back corner bedroom whereas we had to make the couch into a bed at night. Comparing notes we found we were getting in the same neighbourhood as him regards mileage. Think the smaller unit through carefully as it may or may not suffice. Enjoy shopping we found that fun too.

I think the C class is the way to go. I have a 35 year old 24.5 foot that was built in BC. It was converted to run on propane so the cost to rum it is less than my pickup. The cost to buy and fix all its problems was under $2000. With just me and the wife & small dog it is the way to go.
Monty's 2 cents.
