Looking for some towing mirrors that will fit on my '04 F150 XLT. Want to stay away from 'strap on' if at all possible. I looked at replacing them with an aftermarket set but can't come up with the $625 just now, let alone the $1050 that Ford wants. CIPA has a slip on set now that will fit and I may go for them but have been looking at the Tow-N-See mirrors that use suction to stick to the mirror surface. These interest me because you can adjust them by adjusting your regular mirrors. Anyone had any experience with these mirrors?

I have used the mirror listed here http://www.campingworld.com/browse/skus/index.cfm?skunu...012&CFTOKEN=33722637 on 3 different Ford trucks over the past 13 years. For me, the slip on mirrors work very well and they don't impede the use of my regular mirrors.

I just wish the one for the right side was a convex mirror, but the Ford right side mirror is convex, so it isn't a big deal.

I use the GM version of the "slip-over" type. I have found these to be good in that they are removable, and relatively in-expensive. Not sure if they are available for later model trucks, but if they are, for the money, the're well worth it.

Take a look at the PowerVisions. Mine are electrically extendable and retractable, electrically adjustable, heated and cost a lot less than $625, let alone $1050.

Thanks for reply Rusty. Went to site but still run into same old problems.

1. They don't list my truck - '04 F150 XLT
2. Price is in US dollars and by time I get it up here it will cost more than those I can get locally.

Not a problem Rusty, glad to hear from you anyway. Maybe we will meet someday in our travels. It's nice to have found a site like this one where people are frendly and helpful and don't immediatly flame you when you ask questions.

WillYum-
We have only been towing for 1 and 1/2 years. We have experienced the Cipa mirrors from Camping World that Paul had mentioned. The mirror's worked great on our 1999 Chevrolet. We now drive a 2005 Chevrolet that have the electric expandable mirror(with heat). Great mirror also, They sure beat the ease of worrying about where to store your mirrors when not in use or the time to attach and un-attach. But with all this ease we suffer a cost. On our new pick up the mirror on the driver side vibrates. We have had the P-up in the dealership three times before. They have even replaced the mirror. The mechanic has come to the conclusion that GM has a design flaw with this mirror and pickup. Mechanic has had other reports and his father with the same model and close to the same mileage as or is experiencing the same problem. So we are waiting for GM to have a recall on these mirrors . My suggestion is before you spend the cash to have these mirrors is do your home work(which you are with this post) also stop other owners with the same vehicle and mirror and ask them. The mirror you showed in your post look interesting. Heck... try them out.Make sure you can return them if they don't work .

I think I am going to order a set of the Tow-N-See. They are resonably cheap and what the heck, if I can adjust them from inside the cab, particularly the passenger side it would be great. Will let everyone know how they work but as I have mentioned it will be awhile until we pick up the trailer.

Can hardly wait until we are down in the lower mainland and I don't have to huddle up for this cold weather so early.

I hava the CIPA slip on type for an 04 F-150 that I don't need any more. For the cost of shipping, they can be yours. Probably $10-15. We live north of Columbus, OH. e-mail me here or home, (lpulskamp1@yahoo.com), if interested.

we used them for 5 or so years, but don't need them now since we moved to an E-350 van with the tow mirrors.

I have the Tow-n-see mirrors. They fell a few times. I have to clean my truck mirrors very well before applying them. I put a velco strap to secure them. It is true they,re very easy to adjust.

Thanks Paul and welcome to iRV2. I know you are going to enjoy this site as much as I do. I have been digging into some of the old threads and have found some gems I can use.

I still think I am going to give them a try. Nice hint to clean the mirrors well before putting them on. Makes sense though as these work by suction. Don't quite understand the use of velcro strap though. I thought they came with a cord or something incase they came undone.

Yes they have a cord but if they fall they will flap on the vehicle.
