The entire subject is now moot,

WARNING TO CANADIANS!! STAY AWAY FROM FLORIDA!!!

Instead of heading out on our annual trek to Florida this weekend; we are now unpacking our motorhome and calling off the entire trip!!

Canadian Drivers' licences are no longer welcome nor valid in Florida!! Canadians are now required to obtain an International Drivers' Licence to drive a vehicle in Florida!! Which also means that if your licence is not valid, then the insurance on your motorhome is also be invalid, unless you
posess a valid International Drivers' Licence.

You can repack the motorhome and have the trip. The Canadians' response caused the Floridians to review their decision.

Hi,

Yes they are reviewing it--but they have not rescinded it. They will not be enforcing it, at least for now

As Contracting Parties The Geneva Convention on Road Traffic signatories

"shall recognize as valid for driving in their territories: domestic driver's license conforming to the provisions of Annex 6 to the Convention;"

Exactly. As such the new law in Florida is "ultra vires" (beyond their legal authority) and therefore the Florida courts couldn't even enforce it, even if the police were willing to write the ticket in the first place.

Hi,

I turned 65 on Feb 28. Visa no longer covers my medical. But I did find that the Global Gold Payment Card from my local credit union will cover me for 31 days to age 75. This is, at least in some cases, a free card.
